Oh, yeah, that's right. Good thinking Lan-Di. Pullmyfinger, are you using DVD+R media? I think that the Xbox has a problem reading +R media.

if you go into the cd drive, through my computer, right click, properties, recording(or something similar) then you can change the burn speed. Just incase you didn't already know.

From what I have read, I have a Phillips drive

And I have been using some Imation 16X DVD+R, because the guy who sold it to me gave me a few Imation 8X DVD+R with it that work perfectly, my burner is a 16X Lite on. I'll see if I can lower the burn speed, but Nero and Alcohol won't let me burn below 6X

Are you using xbmc? I use xbmc and all my dvd's work fine, no matter what burning speed I use. Make sure that you not in the xbox dash.

It depends on the DVD drive model in the Xbox, not the Dashboard on the Xbox... Although you are right about not being able to do anything in the default Micro$oft dash.. :D

@Pullmyfinger = the last the you should want, is cheap media! :?

I've been using a lot of various stuff, though all of them are DVD-R and not +R. I has some of those cheapy best buy brand dynex dvd's and they worked fine. I've also used some higher quality memorex and and some other brands and had no problems.

My other question would to you would be how are you burning the dvd's in nero. Depending on what mode you choose can affect a lot of things.

I have tried both nero an Alcohol, leaving the settings intact, at lowest speed possible

I'd personally think about going to a local store and buying a small pack of -R media DVDs. That's the only thing I could think of, even though the ones your friend burnt on +R media seemed to work. I know my xbox has refused to play any DVD+R media that I tried to use with it.
