Admittedly, it is hard to avoid these conflicts on gaming boards. And i too am working on the same thing. I'm far from the belief that everyone should just get along with hippy flower power bullshit. I'm even further from accepting everyone's opinion as fact. Hell, I'm starting to get to the point of not accepting some facts as facts. What i am open to are compelling arguments. Gaming needs more of them.

back on topic....

That said there is no reason why anyone should not own a gamecube if you like video games. There is a fantastic library of cheap games for all audiences as you have an entire generation of gaming to choose from. It is the cheapest newer console you can get right now. Really the bang for the buck value is high. True, every console is heavy in different genres and every console has a distinct style that you may prefer to another console, but to call any console unplayable or awful is silly. You can always find something to play, and may even consider it refreshing if you have been playing the same type or style of game for a long time. If anyone doesn't have a gamecube you should totally get a brand new boxed one for 30 bucks. Like now. Go.

I had like 20 gamecube games, during the previous generation, but I sold almost all of them.

the only 3 I considered worthy of keeping are windwaker, skies of arcadia, sonic adventure 2 battle.

gave up tales of symphonia btw. really good rpg for 1 playthrough, but I wasn't ever going to touch that thing again.

but imo buy it just to try it out.

also luigi's mansion was one of the best games on that system. too bad I traded it with enter the matrix (yeah I know OMG)

Lol, i see you've moved on from pointless 6th gen console bashing to pointless 7th gen! ;)

People's stigma around the wii can be depressing. Sure, there really really IS a lot of crap on wii, but why does that make it a bad console. There isn't a lack of good stuff, just extra bad stuff. as far as im concerned, theres still enough good games on wii to keep anyone going.

also, to the above poster, im on my 8th playthrough of ToS and still loving every second of it!

Welcome to my world! Yr next purchase should be the Gameboy Player. $20 bucks or less at GS.

Getting back into gaming after a 16-year hiatus, the Gamecube was my first purchase. Like others said, it has a great library and is a really good value for the money.

When my daughter had a birthday party recently, we let them play 1/2 hour on the Mario Party 7 game which allows 8 people to play at the same time.

There's a lot of kid friendly games which is just perfect for my kids at their age.

The other favorite system of mine is the xbox due to the ability to put all of my games on the hard disk and the wealth of mods/enhancements available.

Well it's more the purchase not justifying th cost to me. Also, I have a Gameboy player already, but I'm just borrowing it for now.

My main problem with the gamecube is its controller. It feels like a toy. Everything is so whack on it. The obnoxious A button and the really small b button. The analog stick is good except for the c stick which is once again really small for no reason. The d pad seemed to be thrown in at the last minute. The shoulder button were comfortable. The cube was good except for some of its lack of variety in game publishers (I don't want to hear "blah blah nintendo has games that are 'innovative' blah blah blah").

I don't know but I really like the controller. My only minor gripes are the lack of a second upper bumper, and the tiny D-pad and C-stick which can be easily remedied.

I must say that the gamecube control pad is probably the most comfortable pad in my opinion, and definetely the best controller i've ever used. I dont think the buttons are particularly small (the B button is bigger than all of the 360s face buttons, and cant be much different to a playstation controls buttons either, although i dont have one at uni to compare to). i think the button layout is extremely convenient for hitting 2 buttons at once as well, with the obvious exception if hitting B and X together. Im not a big fan of diamond button layouts, but that seemingly is the standard, what with the PS3, DS, wii classic control and 360 using it.

Your 8th playthrough? What's your GRADE rank, 99999999? I'm still on my 3rd playthrough, and ToS has lost none of it's awesomeness. Never before has an RPG drawn me in so much that I just have to play it every chance I got. That's not an easy thing to say; I have a ludicrously short attention span, so it's quite something when I'm truly hooked on a game. If anybody is reading this thread and doesn't have this game, go out RIGHT NOW, buy a Gamecube, and buy Tales of Symphonia. You will thank me later.
