Get an SP with the actual backlight and not the frontlight

I would go with GBA SP due to the above mentioned reasons posted and either way they are both really cheap so that helps too... 8)

Aside from the cramped feeling the Micro has a smaller screen, which can suck a bit on text-heavy games. So I'd recommend the SP as the best GBA solution that isn't a DS.

The advantage of a GBA over DS of course being GB/GBC compatibility.

GBA does have two advantages over GBA SP: it has a headphone jack, and it is more comfortable.

GameBoy Micro getting rare and expensive? I see that as a reason to get it. As of right now, they can be found for like 30 dollars, and they will probably just go up. So if you get one now...

I admit the Micro looks comfortable, but that screen is just way too small.

Definately go with the SP+, it has the backlit screen and not the front or sidelit like the normal SP's. I believe the backlit screen only came on the pearl blue and pearl pink colours, and I've even seen a green model with it, but that is rare.

On another note, you can get this: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.23834
It's kind of cool considering it has 93 built in games, and the cartridge slot DOES work to allow you to play games that way too. But some of the cons are the screen is not widescreen so the image seems a little skewed, the screen is the front lit version, and some games experience some slow downs.

Backlight models came in Onyx and Pearl-Blue

It also gives up backwards compatibility, the Micro. And later SPs had nicer screens than the original SPs.
