I'm pretty sure all these idiots who scream about their 360's being broken have just got a loose AV cable or something else trivial. I think they see the red ring and just shit themselves. Damn hysteria! It's worth checking your manual for the error codes and searching the internet for solutions before screaming that your 360 is "fubar".
I've had mine since launch and haven't had one single problem with it.

Re: Jasper unit ...thumbs down.
that's good news. As was said, the error for loose AV cables and the rrod are similar.
Just because someone has a working launch unit doesn't mean others won't have problems. I have a late 2007 unit with no issues but that's only a sample size of one.

This actually happened to my original 06' purchaced 360. I turned it on once and remeber the 4 lights turning red. My heart SANK. I did online trouble shooting and the 4 Lights means one of the cables is disconnected. 3 Lights is the Real RRoD. Which happened to that same system last year. I thought it was unstopable.Octopod wrote:Fallout 3 is installed on my HDD. I guess I have had a few sessions that have lasted for 10 hours or so. At any rate my Xbox 360 is fine. The problem was the user apparently. I unplugged the A/V cables and plugged them back in and it is fine....hopefully.
Now I got a jasper but I'm still on edge, treating it with care... what has MS done to me, having me nurse a console(runnins away cryin)
Re: Jasper unit ...thumbs down.
Yeah the red ring will occur if something happens with the power or the cables in the back. Simply taking them out and plugging back in will solve the issue. This is the first steps the Customer service reps at microsoft have you do if you get the 3 red rings.Octopod wrote:Fallout 3 is installed on my HDD. I'm on my second 360 which is a falcon chip (175w type). I'm curious what the difference between the falcon and jasper are.
Re: Jasper unit ...thumbs down.
Good to hear that it was a minor snafu. I am tempted by the Jasper boxes since it sounds like they finally got things right - atleast for the most part. Sadly the poor support for legacy controls still keeps me at bay.

The Falcon unit has a 65nm CPU and a 90nm GPU and the Jasper is 65nm CPU and 65nm GPU and also only uses 150-Watts of Power compared to 175-Watt for the Falcon. In layman's terms the components are smaller, use less power and produced less heat in the Jasper.

I dont know why you are upset in America...
All you have to do is ship it free of charge a couple of weeks to Microsoft and get it back working. And that offer goes along for 3 years!
Where I am It is going to cost me a $100 shipping both ways AT LEAST. That is if Microsoft is going to do it for me half way around the world. Not to mention the wait is going to be closer to 1.5 months minimum if everything was light speed.

I feel ya. MS doesn't do it, just in some countries. Here we have no warranty from them, a couple of friends sent theirs to the US and have someone do the favor. Stores here usually just give a 2-3 months warranty and give you another one if it RRODs, that's why I won't buy one yet and going for a PC upgrade instead. Sony just introduced playstation support about 6 months ago, guess they are finally noticing latin america but the prices are always way off, why do we have to pay $100 more for a console is beyond me we are poorer god damn it. Current gen games are usually in the $70-80 range in stores so everybody tries to import or play backups.kingmohd84 wrote:I dont know why you are upset in America...

Microsoft had the chance to do just that. But they told Taiwanese company Asus (who make the motherboards for both Apple and Sony's PS2 and PS3) to go jump, and instead decided to go with cheaper Chinese manufacturers to save a couple of bucks per unit.Mod_Man_Extreme wrote:Sigh, now if only Microsoft would just start putting these together at a higher standard.
End result has cost them tens of millions in returns, and even more in bad press.
It seems Microsoft have been cheaping out on software for so many years, they forgot that you can't release a service pack for a hardware product.

I'm really wondering. Isn't Microsoft losing a lot of money with the Xbox360? These must not be cheap at all for them.
