Re: I think my MVS died.
Here is a question that reguards what the above said to look for....
When the board went out did you smell anything? like a burning plastic/rubber?

Simply because you do not have to worry about your expensive hardware to stop working, which it will because it has a limited life time. Do you really think when they made NES, Neo-Geo, SNES, and others they thought they should still be working by 2009. I bet A lot of the pre Saturn/psx consoles did not have any intention to keep their hardware running up until the year 2000(Remember back when the year 2000 was the future and people would be visiting the moon and have robots as maids)

Everything needs maintenance, everything can be repaired. The computer that you choose to run your emulators on, can get a computer crashing virus, and need reformatting.kingmohd84 wrote:RemyC

It's impressive that 10+ year old hardware is still running, and just like everything, it needs to tinkered with to keep running smoothly. Playstations need to have their lasers re-aligned from time to time. Cartridge based systems need a cleaning, and 360s have their software flaws, that no one really knows how to fix, but the folks at microsoft.
Re: I think my MVS died.
Yes, but when my PC dies I can buy another new
when my neo geo dies(which is more likely than pc because it is older) then I am out of luck. There are limited out there. Fixing it might be hectic specially that certain parts may not be found. I also have to be some electric buff to know how to fix it myself.
Don't get me wrong, if they sold brand new neo geos and Snes along with their games guaranteed I will buy them. But to buy it second hand(or do not know how many hands) from a stranger not knowing how many hours or abuse it saw in its life time is really high risk specially considering all the games that will turn into decor with out their console.
Worst thing about emulation is that you won't get the original controller usually working on it, so that sucks a lot of the retro experience.

Re: I think my MVS died.
like other have said, open the board up and look for anything popped, mangled, broken. Then I would try the neo-geo forum. Some really good guys over there when it comes to mods and trouble shooting.

Re: I think my MVS died.
maybe you can find a neo geo enthusiast around your area and maybe he could fix it for an exchange of anything or free

There are none in the country to my knowledge. I'll put an advert on a local auction site though - I know there is a guy who makes Supergun joysticks, maybe I'll manage to get in touch with him. Thanks.kingmohd84 wrote:maybe you can find a neo geo enthusiast around your area and maybe he could fix it for an exchange of anything or free
