As for the saturn verison it actually surprised me how well made it is. It plays very smoothly and it has some added lighting effects.

The Saturn version supposedly had online play via the Saturn Netlink. I would have loved to have tried that! :D

I almost dread to ask this, but what are your thoughts on the Nintendo 64 port that was heavily edited?

I think the online aspect was only a 2D tank game on the disk.

seems to me having a Quake save also unlocked a something in Saturns DN3D ? somehow I remember a connection. I have the Saturn virsion.

There are some High def texture mods that can be used to keep the game from looking too dated.
