I think I am an addict......

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Don't wait until it's the light bill dude! You've still got to think about retirement planning, college funds for the kids, rainyday funds for unexpected medical expenses/car problems... and so on. If you've still got the money for it though, more power to you. Sounds like a nice collection.

Yea, somedays you've gotta tell yourself no, no more, lol. I just can't justify spending that amount on video games when I just recently bought a house, my car needs its maintenence, and so does my 1969 c-10 stepside, but I still find myself buying 3do and ps3 games, my psp library REALLY needs to stop growing, I mean when you look through your games and say, "I have all these games, and I've only completed 2 of these 20", its time to stop buying for that system for a while, lol.

More power to you then. I wish I had that kind of money to blow on videogames.

Although, I still have more games than I possibly have time to play all the way through. Bargain bins have been good to me.

MrPopo wrote:To be fair, addiction is really continuing a behavior in the face of overwhelming negative consequences. If you're buying a ton of games, but you can afford it and it doesn't impact your relations with others, then you're not addicted, you're just enjoying your hobby.
To be unfair the definition of addiction has nothing to do with it's negative side effects.

Case in point, a fictional character but still an example we all should know, Dr. House on the tv-series House is addicted to Vicodin. Through out the entire first few seasons he is severely addicted to the drug despite any negative side effects to his life.

Furthermore millions of people are addicted to Cigarettes, Alcohol and Caffeine again with no negative side effects to them with in reason (of course the unhealthiness is an issue, but that is considerably something else when you take in mind the unhealthiness of several other things we injest that has nothing to do with addiction). But these things, though they can hit you in a bad way, are still considered addictions when they don't hinder your work, socializing, pocketbook or any of that.

To stress my point about the nay-sayers on the health issue in my previous example. Barring cigarettes, the health issues caused by alcohol and caffeine are very negligable when compared to the fumes we inhail driving our cars, the chemicals we ingest every time we eat our processed food, and the marriad of other crap that bombards our bodies. Ciggies, true, the death thing is kind of hardcore... which is probably why it's considered a worse addiction.
