It's actually the idea behind my avatar, but more jokingly than anything else.

Lol, for real.

Posting about it wont do much anyways (side from spreading word) unless you're trying to organize something. You gotta get out there and make some noise. But try posting on a political forum like Axis of Justice, that's just one example but I'm sure there's many more. Also, a fan made forum of a dedicated political band usually has members that are into "fighting the man," Rage Against The Machine and System of a Down are two that pop into mind. In fact, I believe members from both bands collaborated to make Axis of Justice.

That being said, maybe the government doesn't handle it the best way but I think the Patriot Act is A-OK. Who the hell wants another terrorist attack? If an A or H bomb was dropped on NYC, I would be killed. They can Patriot Act up a storm.

And the phrase "history repeats itself" comes to mind. One example being Japanese citizens during World War II. Besides, there are FAR worse problems with our government than the Patriot Act.

So you're implying that people who frequent video game forums care only about video games and couldn't care less about the world in which they live?

No way will the patriot act be renewed, thankfully. There are alot of crazies in the US though who confuse nationalism for patriotism but I dont think there is enough of them to matter anymore now that the "rule by fear" tactics have slowed down a little bit. Hopefully anyways.

This is why games were created, to let you get away from the world where oppressive governments attack the innocent, and into a fantasy world like HL2 where the oppressive Combine attack the innocent....

Wait a second I think I just contradicted myself...

--->Well, this IS the whatever forum. Anyways I agree. Has anyone seen "Enemy of The State"? Good movie, but it outlined what the patriot act does, before it came out. I agree that the patriot act is another excuse to "protect ourselves from terrorists". Yes, I agree there could be a person that they could catch under the patriot act, but would you sacrifice your right to privacy and your freedom? I'd like to take that risk. Until they ban free speech and free thought, I think people of ill-thought and content will always be around us, and you cannot ban Ideas. But hey, thats probably all being worked on as we chat. :-P

In my opinion Ben Franklin said it best: "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

That's not what he said, he just said you wont find a lot of support. People come here to talk about video games, not problems with the government. It'd be like if I posted a topic "Wii sales slipping!" on a political themed forum.
