It is really strange, but I guess weirder things have happened. A few months ago a warehouse full of Amiga CD32 consoles were found, and that console came out in 1993. My best friend bought one brand new, sealed in the box.The thing had never been opened. It was crazy, we were looking on ebay for Amiga stuff every few days at work and suddenly about 50 popped up, brand new.

The fact that SEGA manufactured just under double what they sold could be it.

Hmmm...I am not sure wha is amazing
I live half way around the world and I knew you could buy brand new dreamcasts at $100 ONLINE.

There is even a local store where I am who is selling brand new Saturn and Dreamcast (and I bet some other retro consoles) for like $300 and maybe $400 .
He is not putting those prices because they are rare or hard to find, its because this is their original price sold here(Well they were more expensive back then like $600 or more I bet) .

Dreamcast is one of the easiest finds on the internet specially brand new. They are even on Amazon as far as I know. Produced a lot , sold a lot less I guess. Its not even that old, only ten years since its LAUNCH.

The guy who mentioned the Amiga, I am wondering why any one would store Amigas in a warehouse, that like has storage costs right?

What if these brand new machines had factory faults, do you get support from the company or replacement :p

Mozgus wrote:Always skeptical about this kind of stuff. How and why are they new? Did they just buy hundreds of Dreamcasts at $200 a pop at launch and horde them until now, so they could take a $100 loss on each one? More if you consider inflation.

Considering how fast they went I doubt there were any more than a couple hundred and I know for awhile Dreamcasts were being sold new for like 30 bucks. So they probably just hoarded up when the beloved thing was "dying"

Think Geek is selling Dreamcasts new in box. (sold out)

Pretty cool they are still selling, the site already sold out and I think they were just put up today, it's cool that people still want these great systems.

At the end of Dreamcast's life, they were being sold for $50 at many places. I think that's how these guys can afford $100 now.

kingmohd84: There is definitely no more support for Amigas, but it works perfectly with no problems :D

This was in the States? Strange that someone just forgot them in some warehouse, but that stuff happens I guess. The guy that found them could have capitalized more on selling them by spacing them out - putting 50 available at once is not going to maximize the value he could recoup on them. On the other hand maybe they just need the liquidity right now...
