Alcohol is the ultimate game burning software. Never ever had a problem with the who knows how many DC games I have burned using it.

There are a few games that the ripped version is inferior for different reasons. If you want to check what games are downloadable in full, go to theisonews.com (i think it is) and check in nfo files to see what was ripped. I have a huge collection of great burned games and about 4 or 5 that I had to buy to have a decent version. Some of the games like Guilty Gear have music removed or downsampled, which in some cases isnt that big of a deal to me and therefore not worth buying. It just depends on preference.

It should also be noted that some games will significantly increase wear and tear of your DC Cd rom when playing the burned version. Fatal Fury MOTW and Last Blade 2 come to mind. Something about the way they were ripped causes the DC to load constantly during the game, messing up the gameplay and making your DC very tired.

Well, I can say for certain, from experience that this is true: "Fatal Fury MOTW and Last Blade 2 come to mind. Something about the way they were ripped causes the DC to load constantly during the game"

Try it out, it just sounds extraordinarily unhealthy, like the DC is having a seizure. Now, weather or not this constant hardcore loading causes extra wear and tear that will result in early death... I am not sure of since I have not carried out any formal scientific testing (lol), but anyone with just a tad of common sense would infer that even significant additional usage of the gdrom drive (the constant loading which amounts to probably 100x what is normal for the system) on some of these ripped games would not be preserving your drive.

So, while this is not true with all or even most burned games, we'll just go ahead and say that it is true with ripped games that cause the unusually loud and constant loading.

Also, I heard somewhere that we never really landed on the moon... somewhere... I dunno where

Well, I dunno 'bout that. My legit copy of Unreal Tournament squeals like mad when I play it. Dreamcasts have always been loud, haven't they?

Yeah, all DCs are very loud. I have used backups for years on my Dreamcast, with no apparent damage. I suggest getting Alcohol 120%.

well you know i think it depends on the drive because i had a dreamcast that had a samsung drive and when it moved it was very loud but now i have one with a yamaha drive and it's fairly quiet but the fan is very loud. :)

Mine is usually loud, but it is on a whole new level when playing burned Garou: MOTW. There are others too, but as I clearly stated in my posts, there aren't many that cause this. No its not just the usual DC noise I am talking about. If you haven't tried burned Fatal Fury Mark of the Wolves theres really no point in responding with "dreamcasts are just loud", because you clearly don't know.

As I said, some ripped games increase the worked preformed by the gdrom drive. Most don't. Having a loud dreamcast for years or playing ripped games for years with no problems doesnt disprove this obvious fact.

I play almost all burned games but I avoid playing the ones that give my DC a sezure.

Happy burning

It depends on the DC version (USA, PAL, JAP) you have, the reader model (Yamaha, Samsung), the way the game was ripped and the way it was burned. But a properly copied game won't hurt the console.

I only use DiscJuggler to burn DC copies, by the way. At the lowest burning speed available.

You should buy the best and burn the rest! Nuff said.
