I played the demo and it seems changed from when it was initially available as a Community Game last year. Just not as immediately satisfying for some reason. But it's hard to tell from a demo. It does seem pretty hard.

I guess it depends on what appeals to you. I love a good beat'em up or hack n slash game. Some of the fights later in the game are truly epic and intense. This is exactly the sort of game I wish had been around to play back when Kill Bill Vol 1 originally came out as it the only game I've played that offers that sort of intense, epic, gory samurai action. The game is not exactly high art, or deep and smart in any way, but it damn sure is fun

I wouldn't let the game's difficulty turn you off. That seems to be keeping a lot of people away from this game, even some reviewers have said it's too hard. However, the game's difficulty is a bit misleading, at least on the normal setting anyway. Early on in the game, there are some tricks that make dealing with enemies and bosses easier than they initially seem to be, like how you can one hit kill rocket pack enemies with an aerial grab. Plus, you can always buy healing items and extra continues. Also, the game's difficulty takes a real hit after you get the chainsaw and/or upgrade a weapon to level 3. In fact, things ALMOST seem too easy after that, but the game manages to still stay interesting by introducing new types of enemies, plus throwing greater and greater numbers at you, even mixing in former bosses among normal enemies. Things get pretty crazy in later levels. It's easy to even lose track of your character amidst all the onscreen chaos.

Samurai difficulty is hell though and getting that achievement for beating it is a tall order...unless you do it on co-op and abuse player 2's infinite respawn. You can even do it solo by tying a rubber band around the right analogue stick to keep player 1 warping around all day and out of harm's way, while you go about killing everything with a second controller.

My point being, there's always a way to make things easier in this game even it may seem intimidating. I never played the old community version. So maybe there's something else about that old version that's missing here. I enjoyed this version of the game though and even got the full 200 achievement points, but I understand if it's not a game for everyone
