Unacceptable!

I've bought games for systems I didn't have, but would proceed to buy the system either as part of said transaction or immediately following at another store.

Bought Die Hard Arcade before I bought a Sega Saturn. I had played the actual arcade so much, I felt I just had to get it.

I bought a control stick for the sms without owning one. I saw the plug and thought, "Hey, this is a genesis plug!" I was half-right. While it is for the master system, it totally works on the genny and makes for a nice change...

I found a 20-gig HDD for 360 on clearance for $17, and bought it, knowing that I would own a 360 at some point. A year later, I built up a ton of store credit by "flipping" used games between Gamestop and Blockbuster, turning $100 cash into $200 credit over the course of about 3 weeks, and picked up a 360 Arcade bundle. Brand-new 20-gig 360 for $117 FTW!

God, I'm so cheap it's pathetic... :)

Just to make sure I understand what was happening here, you bought a used game from one store, then sold it to another store at a profit?

Well done sir.

I've not only bought games for systems I didn't own, I've also bought portions of games for a foreign system I didn't own (found a prototype for Detonator Organ for the Mega Drive CD).

I bought Bug! and Daytona USA months before I got a Saturn.

I also bought a Super Famicom game when I don't have one, though I could just mod my SNES to play it.

I also bought Doom, After Burner, and Star Wars Arcade for 32X several months before I finally got one.
Systems: Atari 2600, Atari Jaguar, NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Genesis 3, Genesis 2, 32X, Sega CD (model 2), Saturn (model 1), Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox (Modded), Xbox 360, GameBoy, GBA SP, Game Gear, PSP... always adding more
