Considering that any hypothetical Sega CD, Saturn or Dreamcast compilations would probably see a dual-platform release (360 and PS3), the number of games would be limited by the relatively short capacity of the Xbox 360 media (unless they split it across several discs). Obviously the amount of space used varies widely from game to game, but even something like Sonic CD takes up around 500MB with uncompressed audio. I'd be surprised to see more than 10 games or so on any compilation of disc-based games. A far cry from the ~50 featured on the new Genesis collection.

What would be preferable would be some strong 1990s based arcade collections (Sega, Namco, Cave, etc.) as these games generally take up less space and are harder to get a hold of outside of something like MAME. So while I like the new Genesis collection, I'd prefer a compilation that either A) contains only games that have not been released for home systems and/or B) contains games that have not appeared in previous retro compilations.

I collect these compilations, and Namco is easily the worst offender of repackaging the same 5-10 games (as was mentioned above). In the last gen, SNK and Capcom's collections were probably the best, although Taito and Midway's were decent too - here's hoping they all get new volumes this generation.

Also, I really hope that they don't shift to a digital distribution model - you'll end up shelling out a lot more $$ that way.

Check out the Dynamite Deka (Die Hard Arcade) rehash. I'd really like to get that. http://hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/ ... aages7.htm
