Ya know, I should really do a montage video like this. It doesn't require much skill. Not a whole lot of timing required. I've always wanted to do one for Dreamcast, using either Shape Da Future or Teknopathetic from Jet Set Radio Future. I know it's not even a Dreamcast game, but it has the perfect tone to it.

nice to see Wing Commander in there :p

What good is fast action if you can't see what's going on? And if the speed of the games doesn't fit the tempo of the song, maybe you should have picked a song that matched the video feed. It just seems really backwards to me that when making a video you'd screw up perfectly good game footage to match unrelated music instead of picking music to fit the video.discoalucard wrote:Nah, I tried it at first going single speed, and it didn't fit the tempo of the song. The point is the fast paced action, not necessary seeing what's going on.marurun wrote:And the whole double-timing the play speed? Stupid. Slow it down. I guess this reveals me. At first I thought the video was OK, but as soon as I saw all the action double-timed it lost me. Very bad choice IMO. I look forward to the next video, assuming you've learned something from this one.

I tend to frown upon speed manipulation in music videos as well. I very rarely used it, and if I did it was in subtle ways.marurun wrote:What good is fast action if you can't see what's going on? Re: HG101 Presents - Ode to Shmups
That's...entirely backwards though. The video was inspired by the music, not the other way around. When I first heard the song, I envisioned an extremely fast paced shoot-em-up with explosions and stuff matching up to the crescendos. Choosing a different song would've defeated the point. I kinda wish there were shooters that went as fast as the double timed stuff in the video, because I think it looks really awesome in motion, even if it'd be incredibly difficult to actually play.marurun wrote:

I should note that the priority of the video was to "look amazing" versus demonstrating what the game actually looks/plays like that.
I don't really know of any other songs that would fit with any video game like this one, though, so there probably won't be any more, unless Muse puts out something similar to Map of the Problematique again.

Can't really say I know of any other major pop music song that sounds appropriately video game-y, at least enough for it to be worth the effort.Mozgus wrote:So Muse is all you listen to, huh?discoalucard wrote:I don't really know of any other songs that would fit with any video game like this one, though, so there probably won't be any more, unless Muse puts out something similar to Map of the Problematique again.

I'm not like that. I just found it weird how he said there's no other music that would work, BESIDES some other Muse stuff. That's quite an arrogant statement to make.MrPopo wrote:inb4MozSoYouOnlyListenToPop
Also Muse isn't pop. It also isn't emo like I've heard some jackasses say. What it is though, is extremely overused for fan made music videos.
