The game is easier with a gamepad BTW. I used a NES controller via an adapter and had a much easier time playing it. Don't feel bad though, the demo kicks my ass and I made the damn thing!

I'm pretty good at video games, but it still took me over six hours of continuous play to beat the last two stages in that game...once...on normal difficult...

True...but R-Type Delta is not procedurally generated...Its enemy placement, levels, obstacles, etc. are exactly the same every time you play it...In other words, it is perfectly designed to kill you and make you throw your controller against a wall.
