Mixed feelings so far, though I am only a third of the way in. I like the gameplay more, particularly watching rival enemy squads duke it out before swooping in to take down the winner. The new merc rifle is wonderful and completely replaces the assault rifle and scoped rifle I would occasionally grab for sniping. And I like the open air environments and the fighting in the streets. Unfortunately those same streets pose the biggest problems, because the textures used look so amateurish when compared to the base game. This game came out in 2007 yet looks like something from 1997 in places.

So, mission 5 of MOH Airborne.

I learned about 20% and 45 minutes in that you really, really, REALLY need to have a sniper rifle. So I restarted. Once I got my G43, things got better. I also used the STG44 enough to get a scope for that too, then eventually the "grenade launcher".

As soon as I thought it was over, then the pain train came with the elite troops and their unmounted MG42s. That took a few restarts, but I eventually finished this with a 5 star rating and I also got the Soldier's Medal which unlocked a video showing the development team flying in a real C47 to get the sounds that would be used in the game.

1 more mission to go.

Mission 6 in MOH Airborne is monstrous. Good luck against the tower.

Hey guys, for those familiar with the later games in the Star Wars Dark Forces/Jedi Knight line, is Jedi Academy an offshoot of the series, or does it continue any plot elements of Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast?

I now have access to both, but I have Jedi Academy installed on my computer. I'm wondering if I should hold off an install Jedi Outcast to play through first.

Academy doesn't pull much in the way of being a sequel plot-wise to Outcast. There are a few recurring characters from Outcast, but it's all largely insignificant and exclusive.

You should play Outcast first not just because of chronological release, but because Outcast is a far better game than Academy ever was.

Heh, ok, sounds like it. I have a few other FPS in my GOG catalog to get to as well. I'll go home and install Jedi Outcast, but I have plenty to play these days!

Outcast is a LOT of fun, especially once you get your force powers going. Unfortunately once you do get all those force powers, you become insanely powerful and the game is extremely easy after that. But, if you think about it realistically, with Jedi powers such as those you would be nigh on unstoppable in actuality. So Raven was just doing it legit.

Jedi Outcast is one of the (very small) handful of FPS games I've ever played all the way through, joining Perfect Dark, Halo 3 and Turok Rage Wars in that honour. Of course, I mostly played it in 3rd person using the force powers, so maybe it doesnt count.

Also, fuck Nar Shaddaa Streets, that level is a dick.

Haha, I loved the Nar Shaddaa levels in other Star Wars games. I'll most likely be playing through Outcast in first person. Looking forward to it.

Don't listen to the lies being given to you. Academy is the better game because they don't make you do a bunch of levels before you get to play with your lightsaber. You get it from the start. And Academy gives you dual saber and saberstaff options later in the game.

The main antagonist of Academy is also from Outcast, so if you don't play Outcast first you won't have any idea who she is.
