Attack on Titan is incredibly overrated. Your lack of interest is justified.

It's fun in spurts, but its pacing is atrocious. It's the kind of show that would greatly benefit from a fast forward button. And that's sad, because I feel you shouldn't have to say that about a show that is only 24 episodes.

I'm kinda inbetween.

It's overrated, to the point where I wonder what people were thinking, when they put it really high up, on a pedestal. Pacing is crap, and Eren is a bad protagonist.

However, I find myself interested in it, every now and then. If Season 2 fixes the pacing, it'll be alright.

I'll agree, as a fan of AoT that the pacing is god awful. I still think the first season is worth a watch especially the latter half.

Picked this up at Good Will today pretty obvious bootleg, but hell it's nice to see any type of anime popping up around here. Luckily the employees didn't realize what it was and didn't overprice the shit out of it like they normally do. Cost a total of $3 and both the case and discs are in really nice shape :).

A dead giveaway to pirate anime DVDs is that the region code says ALL.

I saw a few like this the other day when I went to the flea market.

Also a lot of them are in chinese lettering.

I dont like collecting fakes but if there's a scarcity of anime in your area, then go for it.

I just finished the Ys anime, based on the first two games.
They're... exactly what you would expect for an old OVA based on a video game. Not the worst adaptation (like Panzer Dragoon) but certainly nothing special.

The first one is a pretty by-the-numbers retelling of the first game, using story elements from the second game to flesh things out. Adol goes into a shrine and fights a monster, Adol gets the books of Ys, goes into the mines, fights another monster, etc. The differences between the story of the game are pretty basic things, like having Adol walking with someone else so there can be dialog. The music is the best part, since it uses the game's music.

The second one makes some significant changes to the story but the changes end up turning everything into a mess. But the art style feels more "90s" and that made it more interesting-looking.

Also, one of the most striking things about this series were the disc menus in the US release. THEY'RE AWFUL. They try to look like the video game but have these annoying fake loading screens and corny text-based dialog like Adol saying "WHAT PATH SHOULD I CHOOSE?" on the chapter-select screen. It's completely obnoxious and takes way too long to do things like change the audio to Japanese or select an episode.

Let a few episodes of Charlotte pile up and went through them last night. Most resent episode was pretty damn depressing and full of feels. Didn't realize this show was by the same people who did Angel Beats so it kind of makes sense now. They are really good at filling a show with humor and light hearted moments then sprinkling in some ultra depressing scenes just when you let your guard down.

That being said the show isn't bad. Like Angel Beats they always rebound after something depressing happens. It's really one of those shows that just knows how to bring the feels.

Been really lucky with anime recently at the pawns end up with a movie or full season every time I go now. Got the complete High School of the Dead series for $2 today :). Already watched it back when it aired, but was excited none the less.
