Re: What Anime are you Currently Watching?/Anime Recommendat

I know I haven't participated in this thread (heck, Racketboy in general) in a while, but I thought I'd update on my Anime watching.

Cowboy Bebop (19/26) - Freaking in love with this series, and everything about it. There's not one thing I hate about this series. It's...weird, but I embrace it fully. Only have 7 episodes to go. Hoping it ends as great as it finishes.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica (12/12) - Great series! I thought I was going to think it was, "good" or "ok", but it came out to be one of the best Anime I've watched in a while. Only thing that bothered me, was that Shaft did this weird thing in the animation, where in one shot, a character did one thing, but in another shot, they're doing something completely different.
It urked me, for some reason.

Sword Art Online II (15/25) - It's alright. Could be better, but I'm liking it more than last season.
Nothing else to say here; it's SAO. You guys know the drill.

Attack on Titan (16/26) - Remember how a few months ago, I said this series was in my Top 5 Favorite Anime?
Scratch that; this series' pacing got...odd out of nowhere (just gonna say it; I'm glad I'm out of The Struggle for Trost. They played that one out longer than they should have), and Eren's character is just crap, to me. It's still a fun series, don't get me wrong; I'm just finally realizing all it's flaws.

Michiko & Hatchin (4/22) - Just gonna say this; this series is great. The music is very Bebop-ish, the stories in the series are all based upon events that could ACTUALLY be happening in the world at this moment, and...ugh! I love this series a lot!
I wouldn't give it a perfect score, though, but it's great so far! I'm glad I found this hidden gem of a series.

Dragon Ball Z Kai (32/98(dubbed)167(subbed)) - What can I say?
It's Dragon Ball Z.
I actually didn't think I'd like this one, but I do, for some reason.
A lot.

That's about it; I plan to pick up Tokyo Majin, Devil May Cry, and Black Blood Brothers, since Chiller's Anime Wednesday's block is back on the air. Hope they're good (have heard mixed reactions to all of them, of course).

Oh, and I also watched Princess Mononoke for the first time yesterday.

That movie is a masterpiece, and everyone should see it (though, I'm sure you've all seen it already lol).

Mostly just watching DBSuper as it comes out currently. Pretty good so far. I can't wait for Resurrection F.

Yeah Gangsta a pretty good show if your into dark mercenary stuff. A lot of people compare it to Black Lagoon in terms of the vibe it gives off. Stories still kind of vague at this point, but the action alone makes it well worth watching. Just got through with Episode 4 next weeks episode should feature the best fight yet.

Edit:

There have been alot of great shows this season and I'm really enjoying having something new to watch at least every other day. That being said I would say 70% of the 10+ new shows I'm watching suffer from way to much fan service and ecchi shit :P. So many stories which could go from being good to great yet they are being dragged down by an excessive need to insert Tits and Ass  .

It's the same thing that's permeating the hell out of the Japanese game industry right now. On one hand the dirty old pervert in me enjoys it, but on the other it just feels crass and diminishes the prestige of the product in most cases.

Also I can't stand to watch an anime series while it's still airing. I always wait until the series is finished first. That way you can binge it as you see fit.

I followed Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood in real time. The second half of the series was PAINFUL.

I mean I like harem and ecchi stuff as much as the next guy. It just bugs the shit out of me when an episode is just starting to get good then they get bogged down in fan service. I just wish they used it a little more sparingly :P.

I love it as much as I like binging. I fly through stuff way to fast when I binge and get kind of disappointed once it's gone :P. Binging on a show straight through gets a little boring sometimes as well so I like to keep a stable of at least 3-5 shows that are airing each week. This current season has been pretty fruitful I'm watching a whopping 18 shows that are airing weekly so I have something fresh to look forward to almost everyday. That is on top of my current Monster binge which I'm on episode 58/74.

Another thing I like about watching stuff as it airs is reading the comments section and seeing other peoples reactions.

New stuff I'm currently watching.
Shows I would recommend out of what I'm watching:
1. Shokugeki no Soma Episode(Cooking)- This show is freaking great. Definately give it a shot if you haven't yet.
2. God Eater(Action/Based on Game Series)- Great show really has me wanting to try out GE Burst on my PSP.
3. Ore Monogatari!!(Romantic Comedy)- Rarely do I like romance shows but the lead is just great on this one and some moments are just too funny  .
4. Overlord(Trapped in MMO)- Pretty good first two episodes were pretty bogged down with fan service, but episode 3 moved away from that and had more action.
5. Arslan Senki(Action/Medieval)- Liking it so far it does get slow at times, but the party has some interesting members and combat sequences are pretty good.
6. Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri(Fantasy/Modern Warfare/Multi-World)-Some fan service, but it hasn't gotten to far out of hand..... yet(Harem starting to form :P).
7. Gangsta(Gangster/Merc)- Pretty solid story is developing a little slow for my taste, but the action is grade A.

Things I'm Feeling Luke Warm About:
Ushio to Tora(Action/Demons)
Rokka no Yuusha(Action/Fantasy)
Charlotte(Powers/School)- Really slow
Shokugeki no Soma Episode(Fantasy/Sacrifice)- It's surprising if an episode goes by without some major/minor character getting the axe.
Kuusen Madoushi Kouhosei no Kyoukan(Action/Magic School)- Pretty much 70%+ Fan Service
Joukamachi no Dandelion(School Life/Competition/Royals)- Pretty meh so far characters have interesting powers, but it is very slow. Plus there is some fan service which slows it down occasionally.
Akagami no Shirayuki-hime(Fairytale/Rom Com)- So slow I'm about to drop it.
Aoharu x Kikanjuu(Air Gun / Pretty Boy)- good show if you can stomach the girl mistaken for a pretty boy crap
Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou(Fantasy/ Rom Com)- 100% Fan Service  )
Prison School(School/Prison)- Pretty much once again 100% fan service

I really think it helps to be at least a little familiar with other anime before watching CB, that way it's able to be appreciated more. I remember seeing it way back when on Cartoon Network and didn't understand at all what the big deal was. Then I got familiar with other stuff, and years later I can really appreciate CB - the artwork, backgrounds, pacing, music, among other things... all top notch compared to 99% of other anime.

Just want to say that Cowboy Bebop and Trigun are classics... I don't think I've come across anyone who doesn't like one or the other or both.
