Terminator Genisys
I found this movie weird. At first it was like a fan service for fans of the first two films, and I really enjoyed those parts, then out of nowhere I felt it imploded in on itself with a story that was justified again and again by saying oh yeah, "new timeline". The main points of the story are also pretty much the same as Terminator 3, kinda boring as it went on.
It is apparently part of a trilogy, I won't be watching the others in the cinema, after leaving my dad and me both just kinda went "meh, it was okay".
What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
It's a Godfrey Ho movie. One of my favorite Godfrey Ho movies, actually. Cobra vs. Ninja was my introduction to his work.Fragems wrote:I was going in with low expectations and was hoping for some heavy cheese, but man this has to be one of the biggest monstrosities of a low budget film I have ever seen. They literally took a low budget Asian film edited the shit out of it, did a grade a godawful dubbing, meshed in about 5 minutes some hilariously bad "Ninja" combat, and then created the most incomprehensible stories to pretend the footage was connected. The ninja scenes are so bad it's funny which makes the film worthwhile, but I almost feel sorry for the film they butchered. I know it must have been a bad film that they could cheaply acquire, but man oh man did they ever turn it into a hideous abomination.
It's not one low budget Asian film you're looking at, it's actually several, along with footage he filmed of Richard Harrison fighting other white dudes in bright outfits with "Ninja" written on them. Ho typically only filmed about three hours worth of footage and then spliced it in with a mix of other films to create a dozen movies for the price of one, and then he would go the exploitation route and often attach the word "Ninja" to the name of a popular film. Examples: Ninja Terminator, Ninja Destroyer, Ninja in Action, Ninja Commandments, Rage of Ninja, Zombie vs. Ninja, Ninja Powerforce, Ninja Strike Force, Full Metal Ninja, Thunder Ninja Kids in the Golden Adventure, and so on. And in the meantime he would put out other exploitation films, like Robo Vampire. It was cheap and highly profitable, and even he doesn't know how many times he did it. It's believed he made over a hundred films like this. As for the films he used, they were a mix of movies from all over the region: China, Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, and so on.
Love him or hate him, he was a creative bastard.

I mean it does beat the shit out of the knock off crap we get today which takes itself way to seriously, but it still kind of saddens me that he doesn't even reference the films he uses. Looks like some people have tried to compile lists of the films he used, but nobody seemed to know which films he butchered for Cobra vs. Ninja.

Some people also made a "Director's Cut" on you tube with just the Ninja fights that is definitely worth watching.

I saw Edge of Tomorrow and liked it! It starts kind of dumb, but after a while I started getting into it and by the end I was having a lot of fun. It's not groundbreaking or anything like that, but it feels fresh and well-made. It has a fairly off-the-wall premise, it's based on a Japanese light novel and despite the westernization you can tell it runs on the same "fun weirdness" that often defines anime and manga.

Saw Ant Man today overall it's a decent Marvel flick. Really glad that it didn't get bogged down to much by the rest of the marvel cinematic universe. There were plenty of references to the other movies in there, but nothing that felt forced. Really loved the scene with Falcon as well really laughed my ass off. Paul Rudd also did a great job can't wait to see him cross over into the future Marvel films.

I had no idea there was a House of the Living Dead movie... it's not great, but the parts I've seen honestly put it pretty high on my list as far as video game movies go.

It's really really hokey. Probably the funniest thing is they threw in kill screens for when important characters die.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
You mean Uwe Boll's House of the Dead? That movie put the director on the map for making movies that are pure garbage. Later he went on to further make a name for himself by declaring himself one of the greatest filmmakers in the history of cinema, actually having boxing matches against critics who didn't like his movies, insulting Kickstarter backers for not showering him with the hundreds of millions he thinks his movies deserve, and being an overall huge assclown. The prevailing theory is that he makes his movies to exploit a German tax loophole, knowing that they will lose money in order for the German backers to write off the expense as a tax deduction and then collect the profits from DVD sales.
Uwe Boll as a person is more interesting than any movie he has ever made.

I didn't realize it was a Uwe movie. Kinda stains it a bit for me, but the hokeyness and gameyness it has clicks, as stupid as it is.
