Image Link Dump Thread.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Very few, and even less good ones.

a preowned game market
Steam and GOG make that irrelevant.
ease of use
People use computers every day. People install software all the time. It's not that hard.
Also console games tend to be less buggy in big part thanks to standardized specs. Plus it seems like many devs seem to half ass the PC ports pretty heavily, but at least there are plenty of hackers/modders that can finish and/or improve their work for them.
Mods are literally the only reason I spent so much time with Civ 5 and Skyrim. Or why I continue playing Rome: Total War. Or why I again picked up Diablo 2, this time by myself and with mods, and not friends as usual. Or Rise of Nations. The list goes on.
As far as exclusives I'll agree this gen aside from the Wii U the PS4 and Xbox One haven't had a ton of system selling exclusives.

The upside to no used market is the prices are lower. However there are still a lot of people that like to collect physical releases and while the PC has that you are still tied down to DRM and/or a limited number of activations so even if you buy physical the physical game is only useful if you want a quicker install and a paperweight for your shelf.

As for the ease of use. People do use computers everyday, but there are still a large portion that would rather have everything handled for them and get aggravated trying to trouble shoot even simplest of problems. For instance Fallout 3 requires you to go in and modify the .ini file if you want it to play on a quad core cpu without freezing up and/or crashing every 10 minutes. While it's an easy fix that takes 5 seconds to find on Google it's an extra step that a lot of people bitch and moan about.

PC has less exclusive games? How? Where? In what time period has that ever been true?

Here were the exclusives of 2013.

Some of those PC titles have since made it to console, but PC will always have more exclusives at any given time than consoles simply due to the nature of it. No license fee, no expensive dev kit, no content restrictions, no hoops to jump through, and anyone of any skill level and almost any economic background is able to make something for it.

I do, but only when I'm at a convention or something. Lord knows, I'm glad I got the first model Vita instead of one of those dimly lit LCD abominations, but I might use it once a year at most now that I have a Vita TV.

It's not true. What Fragems and I were saying is the exact opposite, that the consoles have very few exclusives.

Yeah exclusives on the consoles this gen have been pretty meh in my book. Anyways things are only exclusive up until somebody dumps it, cracks any security, and makes an emulator  .

Really it seems like Microsoft is making a bunch of their games Xbox One/PC exclusives so there really are even less games to draw you to a One if you have a decent pc. Although as mentioned before Devs seem to be half assing PC ports more and more often and throwing ridiculous shit in like 30 FPS caps  .

From the N64/PS1 era and back, there are tons of console exclusives. As in, many many consoles games never received a PC port.

From the Xbox/PS2 era forward, things did change a bit. It is true that many large production console games are ported to PC nowadays. It's also true that PC games are sometimes ported to consoles as well. But there are still a lot of console exclusives in the seventh and eight generation. You don't have to take my word for it though:

I'm not trying to say console gaming is superior to PC gaming, or vice versa. But there are a lot of console games that have not been ported to PC in the last two generations.

Yeah, but that GIF doesn't really apply to that era. No one is saying sell all consoles.

Apart from Nintendo, there aren't that many good console exclusives, but feel free to ignore me saying that, because I'm a bit pickier than most folks around here, I've found.

From my perspective the worst thing that's happened over the last few generations is as video games have homogenized hardware across consoles and PC, it's sort of stripped PC games of their identity.

There's a bit of a resurgence lately, but it's sort of like a fostering ground for new ideas that eventually become fruitful on console. PC's own sort of quirky set of games are now either cannibalized into something else (fps) or just plain gone. They've almost become features for other types of games, like the RPG.

The platform itself might be seen as a current treasure trove, but that's coming from a Console perspective and then looking at PC. If you've loved PC games from the 80s forward, I could see people being extremely disillusioned.

Maybe it's coming back. We got Grim Fandango and Kings Quest. But ... I dunno.

It's kind of hard to argue the Wii U doesn't have the best exclusives this generation ... it's virtually the only system with exclusives at all (That tend to be actually really good, and so far have been bar setting for the generation) :P
Completely biased untrue remark, but the exclusives on PS4 and XBO so far have been extremely underwhelming.

If you're someone like me whom plays multiplat games on PC, that PS4 is just sitting there doing jack and shit.
