So you never actually see Sonic save him in the plane? If I ever saw that, I would just assume Tails fell to his death with no one to save him, and laugh my ass off.
No no, you do. Let me clarify.

As you know, when you beat the game with Sonic, after he escapes the death egg, the screen goes white, and you see some pictures of Tails observing the explosion, then hopping in the plane and flying up. Then it cuts to Sonic falling briefly, and then Tails shows up and catches him.

When you beat it with Tails, you don't get those pictures. Instead Tails just falls for a couple of minutes (essentially, long enough for the music to cue in at the right time) and then Sonic shows up with the plane and catches him. You do see it happen. Then as usual the birds come along, victory pose, credits.

For the record, when you're playing as Tails, Sonic also pilots the plane during Sky Chase and Wing Fortress.

So how much better is nights into dreams with the 3d controller compared to the regular one?

A lot of people will say it helps immensely, but I will be one of the few, I feel that would say, you can skip the 3D controller. The 3D controller really improves racing games like Daytona Championship Edition, but with Nights, not so much. Sure the game revolves around making that circular motion, but you can still do so with the D-pad. In fact, a lot of the trick moves are more controllable with the D-pad. With the 3D controller, you are essentially masshing directions to perform tricks.

It is really all up to preference, but for me, it didn't do anything special .It was by no means a detriment to me.

after 18 years I finally played FF VII, I am following a step by step guide so I don't waste 50 hours exploring mindlessly. Still fun.

This game is a good example of how putting limits can expand your imagination, a topic we discussed here sometime ago in the forums. The limits of the 16-bit generation built this game. You just don't see so much creativity now that anything is possible. More like rinse and repeat.

I don't understand why they chose cartoony/cute characters to play a dark game with murderers and forced prostitution.

So some of the Dreamcast RPGs have just been skyrocketing in price lately. I wonder if it has anything to do with Gamestop selling them now?

Unless you have the US Model 1 Saturn controller. Then the 3D Controller is significantly better.

The limits of the cartridge based 2D SNES era built a CD-ROM based 3D PS1 JRPG?

What I mean is the developers moving from the restrictions of the 2D SNES cartridges to CD/3D consoles opened a lot of possibilities that inspired creativity, a creativity that didn't happen when they moved from ps3->ps4.
