Ryan, if you really must sell your stuff, I think the best place is to do it here. You'll get a fair price, and who knows, maybe when family finances are back on track you could buy it back if the new owners stick around and want to get rid of it down the line. It sure as hell beats selling to a gamestore or some randomer on ebay. At least you know with us guys it's going to a good home!

I agree with LoD though, you really should talk with your parents. AFAIK you aren't 18 yet (are you 15? I'm terrible with ages/names/dates so forgive me), you have no financial responsibility (or even responsibility full stop) to provide for your family. I'm pretty sure if you discuss it they'll not expect you to sell any of your possessions and judging from previous posts you seemed to have worked pretty hard to get them.

Plus it never hurts to help out around the house. I always did my part for my mum because my dad was such an alcoholic. She was the breadwinner in my family, my dad did nothing but piss the money up a wall every night at the pub. Spent all day watching TV doing nothing. I was glad to help my mum sort shit out we used to have a laugh doing it.

Yeah, I digress. Talk to your family, don't feel that you need to do anything. You aren't responsible for helping out with finances, especially not at your age. The best thing you can do for your parents right now is to try and get a job and use that money for yourself, for your food, clothes etc, anything you might need that your parents would pay for usually. If you buy it yourself it's one less thing they have to budget for. Plus if you are handy with computers and your parents aren't, why not create a finance spreadsheet for household expenses. It might not seem like a huge task to you, but I can sure as hell guarantee they'll appreciate it if they haven't thought to do something like that themselves.

Talk to your folks about what you have discussed with us. Please!
Yes I'm 15.

Well I did end up discussing this with my father this evening. He said he didn't really need help but I gave him the 1500 in cash I had earned and told him, if he needed any more I could make more. I've been self sufficient for the most part money wise but I can never pay back the amount of care he has taken of me. Still, Im just trying to help with our family struggles at the moment. We will however know tomorrow if we get a good paycheck that will allow us to live a bit better (and me not sell much more than I have ;))

Also If you look past Moz's horrible qualities and pessimistic attitude, you can see he really does care

I've sat for 5 minutes trying to dissect this sentence, but it just doesn't make sense. You're making some kind of joke about how I don't care about people. I can figure that much. But there's no irony here to make this a joke, and if it's just sarcasm, it's incomplete. Try harder.

Christ, I didn't even do anything wrong in this thread. If anyone thinks I did, then you're admitting you too see karma taking effect on Ryan. You're just mad because I have bad, but intentional timing.

I'm not saying you made this thread to absorb sympathy, as you sound like you are just letting us know you'll be selling a lot of games. Unfortunately, a lot of other people seem to feel the need to baby you up, and if I don't do the same, I'm the asshole again.

And allow me to clarify a few things for some people.

1) I think it's stupid to assume we're all friends here. We don't know shit about each other. You can't be friends with people you haven't met. Exceptions made for the few of you who met at cons and spent any real time together, I suppose. Just my opinion.

2) I'm not cold and heartless. I just don't feel the need to love all living creatures equally. Creatures that lower the quality of my own life, in any way, will especially get no help from me. Meanwhile, anyone who does help me, always gets it back double. I continue to be the most reliable person they know, until they start to abuse me. Those are just the rules I follow.

He should have filled out his location so people would know this. I was really talking about the negativity of his post. As usual though, Moz said something even worst though. The guy is in a rough patch and looking to us for advice and encouragment. The least we could do is help by buying some of his collection and offering him a helping hand. Maybe people feel differently though.
Maybe he should have filled in his location, and yes, what he said does come across as negative, but for all we know, he doesn't see games as a big money thing. He's made other posts about not being able to buy all the stuff some of us have. And yes, I do wish everybody here used proper grammar and spelling, myself included. But this is a site that can be accessed internationally, and its content appeals to an international crowd, so we can't expect everybody to know that.

Look, Corn, I understand you're upset about what a couple of folks have said to Ryan, and I think it's very respectable that you're worried about the kid. We all wish the best for the folks who come here and we're willing to help each other out. But accusing someone of being "retarded" just because he says something critical of someone else definitely isn't going to help the point, especially when one doesn't necessarily know the full story.

Either way, you're a nice guy who got a bit hot under the collar. Happens to the best of us. Just try to watch the insults, and if you feel somebody's causing a problem, get in touch with Racket or one of the mods.

And Mozgus will always be Mozgus.
Maybe the word retard was a little bit overboard. And maybe I'm making mountains out of mole hills. Its just sucks to see a lot of people in such a shitty state. I guess I was mad at the situation more than the person. This is happening to way to many good hard working people and I'm sick of it. Its depressing and just I don't like when people say something with no facts behind the statement. I know, or at least hope my collection is worth more than $2000 and could help me get out in a bind should one god forbid happen to me. And yes Moz will be Moz, some things never change. Although most of the time, I do find his comments humorous I have to admit. :)

I was just pointing out what struck me immediately upon reading your initial post. I would consider myself a relativst in many ways--even postmodern, perhaps. Nevertheless I can recognize an objective standard by which owning only three video game consoles (and a PC) certainly does not constitute a state of poverty.

It's easy to say "things could always be worse" but in this case things could be a lot worse. Ejoy what you have and enjoy having helped your family. The satisfaction of that will probably make you appreciate what you do have that much more.

Being friends is different and than helping a 15 year old kid help his family. Its called giving a helping hand by buying some of his collection from him. Everyone wins and I get a sweet game for a good price. Friendship is much different than that.

No, that's called getting a good deal, and nothing else. Stop kidding yourself.

Only a jerk to people I don't like. Congratulations for noticing. No prizes though.

So how's that Sega Saturn 2 coming Ryan? Maybe if you finish that, you could make some big bucks.
