So watching the video, it seems that the game's core is Persona 4ish, but then there's Fire Emblem elements on top. The weaknesses seem to follow the triangles, and it looks like the stats are Fire Emblem style rather than Persona style. And the Fire Emblem characters seem to be your Personas that let you fight.

The chaining system is neat, and I like how it continued onto other mobs if the first one dies early in the chain.

Looks heavily influenced by Persona which I totally dig.

About 25 minutes in. I really want to get my hands on this. Also the dungeon music is really awesome.

Between #FE and Persona 5 I'll have my fix sorted for quite a while it seems.

No, but he said ... *checks again* you're right! It could easily be a new handheld. They have said new "Dedicated Game Platform".

HOWEVER. Something was said that would suggest otherwise.

The producer of Metroid said it's too late to make a Wii U Metroid Prime title, and it would have to aim at being on NX.

“If we started [working on a new Metroid Prime] for Wii U now, it would likely take three years or so. So it would likely now be on Nintendo’s NX console”

That sounds like a pretty definitive, at the very least, NX is a home console, but could also be something else in addition to that, I suppose.

Maybe Nintendo is being coy about defining handheld or home console because it isn't either ... or maybe it's both.

I really doubt it's a handheld. Nintendo's financial reports have on the one hand stated that the Wii U's performance is poor, while simultaneously stating that the 3DS is going strong. It would make no sense for them to replace the 3DS instead of the Wii U.

If it's a couple years out, especially, it'll make plenty of sense to replace the 3DS. Sure, it's selling well, but it's also in much more direct competition with mobile devices, and the games on it look like crap by comparison. Actual content may be a different matter, but the processing power and screen resolution are from another decade.

IMO, the NX is going to be a unified platform. Something you can bring with you, and then put in a dock when you get home to play on your TV (if you want).

That's what I've been saying for a long while now what I think Nintendo will do too, unified platform.

Look at the history in the last few years. Merged the handheld and console groups into one to start. Then you dig some you'll find them talking about scalability. To me that reinforces that and one could expand from it. It could be a logical step to assume you'll go the Neo-Geo X route of a dockable handheld for HDMI on the home TV *or* they will make scalable hardware and performance much like how a PC game will work. For some you get back of the box peek performance due to a badass PC while others have a moderate one who will have to run at mixed settings to keep the framerate solid. This could be done where you can choose to buy a handheld or a console, yet they both slot the same games and use the same os/coding language. Either way would save them a bundle, allow them to play their go it alone games, and would open them up to more support capturing gaming at home and on the go in one shot. I think given their deathly problems on console gaming and them being squished more by tablet/phone based games more using cheap quality bluetooth controllers they need to drop the 2 independent system model to survive.

I'm considered a pretty upbeat and happy person, but there is one thing that pisses me off and gets me outright livid is people's hate for motion controls. Sit down and get over it! Motion controls aren't bad and aren't implemented poorly anymore and y'all just need to calm the calm down about it! People don't like having to use the screen to look down on from above in Star Fox? Guess what? GET OVER IT!

Nintendo has said, "You don't HAVE to use the motion controls," but let me tell you that it will be more difficult. There are portions of the game where it is put in a locked cinematic camera and you need to use the gamepad to target enemies. Guess what? MOTION CONTROLS! You are stuck with it and it isn't a bad thing! Just sit down and give it an honest to goodness shot, because seriously....grumble grumble grumble!

Making a blanket statement that all motion controls aren't bad is as bad as making the opposite assertion. Many of the crew of Giant Bomb, who were actually there to play it, complained about the feeling of the Star Fox motion controls and I know many of them prefer the motion controls in Splatoon, so I don't think it's due to some motion-control bias.

I'm really unsure now. I want a Wii U badly for the games, but if it is replaced and the NX is backwards compatible wouldn't it be better to wait for that? I wanted to buy a Wii U before christmas but now I might wait like a year :(

Lots of "if" in your decision to wait. When will NX actually be available, what will it actually be, and will it be backwards compatible with Wii U games? None are known, and my guess is that at least one of those options (most likely backwards compatibilty) will let you down.

At a guess, you probably aren't better off waiting if you can find a decent price (say, $250 or less preferably with a pack-in) on a Wii U console - and it hasn't been hard to find that type of pricing over the past few years.

What games are you really excited to play?

Nintendo Refurb sells Wiiu with Mario 3d Land for $250.
