Just rebuilt the rig with a new motherboard and case. Old board was giving me memory slot issues, so I grabbed one of the last decent LGA 1155 boards NewEgg had, an ATX case to fit it, and Bob's your uncle.

Re: PC build thread
so I liked having a mechanical keyboard, but now I LOVE it. Today I installed Cherry Red dampeners and OMG... now the throw is a bit more shallow, and it's much quieter. It is just so so so comfortable now. Amazing what a difference tiny little rubber rings make!

I like the looks of that keyboard. Reminds me of an 8-bit computer.

Great looking keyboard, Noise!
I am thinking about building a new desktop rig--for the first time in years (have been gaming and working on a laptop forever). What graphics card would you guys recommend for 1440p gaming? Is a GTX 980 overkill for that task? I have read about Nvidia's gimping of the GTX 970--in your opinion, is a GTX 980 worth the extra cost over a GTX 970 at 1440p resolution? (For those of you who game at 1440p, is it vastly different from 1080p gaming? I have never tried 1440p for gaming myself.)

Re: PC build thread
to me - the diff in 970 to 980 just doesn't justify cost. The troubles w/ the 970 come when your VRAM hits that 3.5GB threshold, which I've never done in a game. That said, I don't game at 1440, so I'm perhaps not one to answer.
Thanks on the keyboard. I love this thing.

What kinda keyboard is that, again? And what type of switch do the keys use? Can you describe the key press feel and why you love it so much?

Re: PC build thread
it's a WASD Keyboard V.1 104 key... I'm not sure what the switches are, but I installed Cherry Red dampeners and now it's got a a shorter throw and much quieter than it used to be. The Blue is shorter, and I've considered those. I might even go to those at some point, as I like having a soft touch. But it's great with these as well.marurun wrote:What kinda keyboard is that, again? And what type of switch do the keys use? Can you describe the key press feel and why you love it so much?

Mine is not mechanical, but I have red WASD, love them. I also have a red Space and Red directional keys, but did not put them on and I did not love the overall look with them on.noiseredux wrote:It is the WASDKeyboard I got from isiolia. I added the blue keys tonight.
