Is there a decent sized pro-gaming circuit or whatever you call it outside of MOBAs, Starcraft and fighters? I haven't really seen anything else in the last couple of years besides those.

They are of course the most popular one's but yeah there's profesional gaming on other genres games. The official pokemon tournament, VGC, is a thing for example.

And i don't know how profesional you can consider speed runs but since they keep world records and who made them it maybe it's a thing too.

Twin Galaxies is still a thing. A shell of a thing, but a thing nonetheless.

Hadn't considered Speed Runs, I don't see why that couldn't be considered professional, unless being payed is required. Twin Galxies fits too, haven't heard of it since Fistfull of Quarters was all rage.

I was just curios, I used to watch one that was shown on G4 sometimes, where they played various console FPS games, Tetris, some racing games, and did point runs on some games. I might be remembering things improperly, but I know at least some of that is right.

Firstly, Polish/Slavic mythology isn’t really a thing. You can’t talk about it in the same way as you talk about Norse mythology or ancient Greek or even Egyptian mythology. There is no concrete body of mythological lore you can print in a book, or use as a game setting.

The ancient Slavic people that roamed central and eastern Europe territories that we now recognize as Poland left virtually no written records. Most of their religious beliefs, customs, rituals and stories have been very successfully erased from history by the efforts of the Catholic Church. For example, there is no such thing as a Slavic people’s version of the creation myth. Doubtlessly such a myth must have existed, but we have no knowledge of it. It was lost to history. While we know of a handful of Slavic gods that were worshiped, most of what we know about them is based on conjecture based on analysis of the precious few stone and wooden idols that were not smashed or burned by the Inquisition, and church records.
It helps not to distort the views of others before you criticize them.
Also from the article:
So anyone telling you that Witcher 3 is based on actual Slavic mythology is full of shit.
Obviously this is a high-quality, professional article and not clickbait. I wouldn't pay any mind to what this guy has to say.

It's a jab, not serious criticism, but I don't think I've distorted anything.

After all given one of the premises of the article is that the designers of the game "literally forgot" about non-white people I don't think my supposed distortions are the important ones here

TF2 and Counter-Strike have very healthy competitive communities.

Forlorn Drifter wrote: "If you set fair rules people have less reason to break the law". This does not apply to pirates. Thieves? Possibly. But pirates? No.
Well, a lot less pirating has been going on since online service offered more lenient rules by allowing use of gift cards (against U.S. based credit cards), Paypal, iTunes rent(against buy), local pay-tv airing same day GoT episodes (They used to air last season as "Exclusive").

I once went to a local videogame shop who had a gamecube game on display 5-7 years after its release, he said it had a "special" discount on it, only $66. Now I can go on PSN and download a current game for $30-20.

No one wonder people opt for bootlegging and piracy.
