Well, I caved in and bought The Witcher 3 for PC.

The reviews are just too good and I am a sucker for an open world action RPG. My usual habit in these games is to ignore the main plots as much as possible and roam the countryside for hours and hours and hours...
Have: Sega Genesis, SNES, Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari 800XL, PC, N3DS XL, Wii U, GBA, Xbox One, Switch

Want: Games!!!

Wow, you're right.

9.75 from gameinformer, and 9.8/10 from game trailers just to name a few. Looks pretty sweet.

The game is indeed pretty sweet. But be prepared to spend a LOT of time with it.

Thinking the Witcher may go over 100 hours easily for me. Just too much to do and the story looks like it may actually require me to level a lot. Seemed like Skyrim did not need a real high level to beat, stayed away from story entirely the second time through that one.

Hey guys, so I have some really really stupid questions about Nintendo 64 games...

Was wondering about games like Ocarina of Time and Super Smash Bros, or other games that require saving. Can you use the Nintendo 64 memory cards to save data? Also, do N64 carts have batteries in them like the SNES ones?

Not all games support the memory card. Some do not support it at all, some support it for a subset of functionality (Mario Kart ghosts, for example), some support it for everything, and some only support the card and not on-cart saves.

Popo got it right, I'll just add what I can.

Every first party game will save on the cart. So Oot, Smash Bros, Mario 64, etc. No memory card required (or even able to be used). The exception being something like Mario Kart saving the ghost data on a memory card.

Most third party games, you'll need a memory card to save. All Rare games save on the cart, but pretty much every other third party N64 cart I own requires a memory card to save. One exception is Cruisin' USA, which IIRC lets you save on either.

Most games are one or the other. Some games have you save ONLY on the cart. Some ONLY on a memory card. The only one I know of that lets you do both is Cruisin' USA.

Games that save on the cart, there were a few different types of memory used. IIRC, some use SRAM and have a battery. Others have EEPROM or some kind of flash memory, and those do not have a battery.

Ogre Battle 64 lets you save to either the cart or a memory card.
