Yeah, Tank Girl pretty clearly falls under the cult classic header. It certainly isn't a mainstream classic, and its cult following has sustained it through to a Blu-Ray release just last year.

And it totally deserves that sequel I talked about.

Also I recently watched this, the final entry in the trilogy (well, it's the final entry of a trilogy at the moment but they COULD make a sequel):

Not the worst, but in the trilogy it's third-best out of three.

That turd got another release?

100% honest. That movie stars someone who looks terrible, the movie is completely obnoxious and horribly edited...I just can't get why anyone would watch it more than once. The movie literally cuts to cartoon panels for absolutely no reason.

I guess it's the banana flavor of runts candy. You either hate it or love it. But why someone would love it is mystifying.

Set in the distant future of 1992, a scientist is charged to create a parasite for population control, only to become infected with it himself. With another as a test subject, he must find a way to stop it before anyone else becomes a victim. The effects are pretty cool for the early 80s, but that's about it. The only real notable thing here is Demi Moore's acting debut, otherwise the rest of it is kinda blah.
Thanks for the suggestion, Exed, but...
Ack, Feb.09, 2015 wrote:Parasite

Hey, it's Demi Moore! This is her second film, and she was only 20 at the time. But she's not the hero of the film, she's a young woman with a passion for growing lemons and wearing baggy pants. Instead, our hero is Bob Glaudini, who plays Dr. Paul Dean. Instead of cooking up things in the kitchen, he cooks up exotic new parasites for the government, thinking somehow that this will be a good thing. It's not, and the good doctor gets himself infected by one of the parasites he created. So he takes another parasite to experiment on, kills the rest, and flees. But in this post-apocalyptic wasteland, where runaway inflation and a mega business guild known only as the Merchants has effectively taken over the government and instituted Soviet-style work camps, Paul has little hope. He's now being pursued by one of the Merchants' own, a one-gloved assassin named Wolf, and his parasite is slowly growing in size.

If you haven't figured it out yet, the name that is tingling in the back of your mind is "Alien." Yep, it's an alien knock off, with a Stan Winston-created blood sucking worm with a killer smile that loves to sink its teeth into things and explode out of old women's faces. Unfortunately it also takes its dear sweet time showing up on screen, so we have to watch a good 45 minutes of characters trying to develop and an "evil" group of wasteland teenagers try to appear threatening. And there's the crazy fake rape scene at the beginning too, in which I guess the tied up woman went insane and develop Stockholm syndrome real quick and helps her tormentors attack the guy who just rescued her. High art, this is not.

So what are the highlights? The parasite, when it finally shows up. Most everything else is filler, and while there are a couple of interesting characters in the post apocalyptic wasteland, most are either stereotypes(angry gas station guy, friendly old man, valiant but scarred African American supporting cast member) or they are woefully pathetic(teenage kids). Unfortunately, the big villain falls into that second category. Wolf is about as menacing as a Wall Street stockbroker armed with a laser pointer, and outside of the few times he gets the drop on someone, he's about as effective. I can pull better evil out of my ass, dude!

Above all, I found this film middle of the road. It's not so terrible as to become laughable, but there isn't enough to make this even approach the idea of a good movie. And there are awkward mistakes, like the closeups of a man being burned to death which show it's obviously a stunt guy in a fire suit that's about twice as big as the guy getting burned, or a kid getting his ear cut off and then having it much later.

That said, I've always wanted to watch Crippled Avengers in a back to back marathon with Crippled Masters!

Ugh, they made a third one of those? I loathed the first and never bothered to see the second.

Aw man I did a rip off review? Honestly had no idea you saw it (this year?!), I just saw an old commercial for it on YouTube and it looked just like something I'd be interested in, horror stuff from the early 80s.

That was my biggest problem with it. I wanted to say something about the pacing, and the fact that I predicted someone saying "it's over" as the guy was on fire.

I promise to use the search function in the future

Do these people get paid? Does the site have an editor? These are real questions.

http://defamer.gawker.com/theyre-here-g ... 1706263175

Is this just a "Anyone can post" site?

The "review" starts out with "This is a dicklelss movie". "Dickless". Was this movie supposed to contain dicks? I guess a lesbian themed porno could be dickless, but a Summer movie at theaters aimed at teenagers? And iof dickless means "bad" would you say a good movie is "full of dicks"?

And what the fuck happened to punctuation? The "reviewer" has no concept of it. Not that we all make mistakes from time to time, but if an editor exists on this site, shame on him/her. But mostly shame on the writer.

Rarely is a movie review worse than the movie itself, but this takes the cake. The only positive thing about it is that it reminded me of...

Haha, no worries, Exed. I am just glad I got to share the pain with someone. I don't expect finding folks who have heard of this movie, let alone seen it, is that common. To have two on the same forum...well, that is like seeing unicorn sex.

A very solid movie, though when compared to its peers that year (The Lego Movie, How to Train Your Dragon 2) it's a bit less impressive. I also couldn't help thinking of The Incredibles while watching it, also a better movie

But I enjoyed watching it, and it's surreal to see a Stan Lee cameo in a Disney film. It's amazing how I still forget that Marvel is owned by them now.
