I'm with dogman. It's funny to give it a little time and be able to pickup ~3 games for the price of one. I still buy a few games at launch a year, but not nearly as much as I used to. Isn't too hard to wait for the cheaper releases that end up having all the content!

Anyone who purchases season passes in mere anticipation, buys unfinished games being completed later via buying more DLC, puts up with huge multi-gigabyte patches, and welcomes always online activation... you are supporting toxic behavior in this medium.

Here's a weird one: I think public's opinion of Tim Schafer will probably make a huge turn for the worse sooner or later. It seems inevitable to me. There's a lot of people dissapointed with how he handles the development of his kickstater-backed games and I don't think having played a part in Lucasarts games will protect him forever.

I thought it already happened with the sock puppet thing? I like him just fine; sometimes those hurdles in game development happen. He still managed to make enough money in the end to complete the game without asking for more via another Kickstarter or something like that.

At least he's a developer that doesn't go with the current trends, and makes the games he wants to make with his studio.

Time to get back to some unpopular opinions... I haven't liked any of the Tim Shafer stuff I've played.

The only truly excellent thing I've played by Tim Shafer was Full Throttle. Pyschonauts fell apart at the end and Grim Fandango failed to grab me at all. Of his other projects nothing else even garnered my attention enough to try them.

I love all of Tim's stuff, but it really was Full Throttle and Grim Fandango that did it for me. I enjoy Psychonauts more for the world they created and the imagination it made, but I felt like it had its faults.

I always feel that way about Tim Schaefer's stuff though. There is this very creative and unique world that he builds a game around. The world of Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, Psychonauts and Brutal Legend are all absolutely exhillerating, even if the gameplay itself is standard fare.

Full Throttle is one of the best adventure games ever.

This might not be unpopular, but some people here will surely disagree.

I can not for the life of me play something with ASCII graphics. It just doesn't work, I have a hard time telling what the hell is going on, and it looks like crap in most cases.

Since I've been delving around on PC games more too, I have to say I can't stand convoluted UI without explanation. Example: Dwarf Fortress. I've always wanted to get into the game because of the awesome stories that can be randomly generated or seen in the game. My friend told me this amazing story about how his kingdom, which was large enough to cover 1/4 of his "small" map, was destroyed by a group of amphibious whales. Another time, his small group of 40 dwarves were all eliminated except for three pregnant females, all of whom led to the creation of his next great kingdom, that bred and trained elephants to fight for them. But the UI is crap. Keyboard commands are fine, but when I have a 3 page long list of crap I have to sift through to find the one thing I need to do, you are screwing up. And don't even get me started on assigning jobs...

I just wish we could get something with the ridiculous depth of DF in its story telling sense without such a screwy UI. /endRantThatStartedOnTopicButEndedOffTopic
