The question becomes, "What does he consider to be a GOOD movie?"

This is a good question. Cause' lord knows the two of us could watch crap all day and still get some enjoyment out of it.

If I have to compare it to the first two I think it's a little bit weaker, but still more than good enough to hang with them. Fans won't be disappointed. It wraps up the story nicely, though a few things from the manga/anime were a bit simplified or rushed through. The fight scenes are off the chain, and the final battle may be more epic than the final battles in The Raid movies, though expect less realism as we're talking about a manga/anime inspired movie here. Woe to the viewer who blinks at any point during the fights in this movie because the action is fast and you just have to keep up.

The performances are great...again. They did some amazing casting for this trilogy.

Most importantly, this entry - like the first two, maintains the spirit of the source material. I'm a Kenshin fan from way back, so I don't know how non fans would perceive this trilogy, but I view it as a perfect translation of the source material and makes me curious to see other anime/manga get the live action treatment.

That's a bold statement. I have seen a lot of great movies, but I'm always digging around for hidden treasures and stuff I might have overlooked. Maybe making up your mind based entirely on the merits of IMDB ratings isn't the best way to go about it. There are some great movies that don't ever hit the top 100.
There are probably still good movies I have not watched but I am in that phase where I have to dig extra hard. I don't watch movies based on IMDB rating only, but I use it as a database to read the synopsis and about the actors.

For me the following categories:
1) Generally popular entertaining movies: Die Hard, The Matrix, Speed.
2) Genuinely good stories: Shawshank redemption , Gone With the Wind
3) Outstanding production: Lord of the Rings , Jurassic Park
4) A good comedy: Coming to America, Zombieland, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future?
5) A good horror(very rare): The Exorcist

Maybe I missed something.

I am not into:
1-Artistic styles: Requiem into Dream, Fearing and Loathing in Las Vegas?
2-Movies that were good in their era: Seven Samurai , Citizen Kane, Casablanca
3-Mindless action: no examples needed
4-Open for interpretation: Donnie Darko - Eternal Sunshine
5-Recent movies that has big marketing budget but they suck: F7, Transformers, Spiderman, Hunger Games
6-Cringe Comedy: Dinner for Schmucks

I specifically mentioned the above because there are people who are into those genres but I am not.

This weekend, my wife and I watched:

Valerie and Her Week of Wonders (1970). It is a surreal gothic-horror/fantasy film from Czechoslavakia. It was packed with sumptuous visuals, and it features an excellent soundtrack. I am not sure what - if any - meaning to attach to it, however, and I am confident that RCBH928 would hate it.

Ack might like it though. Here is a link to the trailer, and it appears that you can watch the movie in its entirety on YouTube. (I watched it on Hulu+.)

Wow, that trailer looks like Nosferatu the Vampyre meets The Omega Man with some good old fashioned lesbianism mixed in. I'll have to check that out.

The Angriest Man In Brooklyn
This movie falls into a genre and stereotype that normally I would not watch. I only watched it in memory of the great Robin Williams. The ironic thing is in this movie his character actually attempts suicide, and goes on rants about how meaningless life is and how no one really gives a shit about anyone else. At those times you can't help but wonder just how much Robin was acting and how much was actual legit foreshadowing. Anyway, aside from his work, the rest of the movie was pretty bad. I don't recommend it.

Yeah so I like the TV show. This is the third movie I've seen by these guys, and once again, it's not as good as the TV show. However, this third movie is definitely better than the first two movies. As you can tell there's a lot of marijuana sympathizing going on here, to the point that I feel like these dudes are the Cheech & Chong of my generation. (As far as marijuana goes I don't smoke it but I'm not against it being legal either.) Anyway, if you enjoy the TV show you'll probably enjoy this as well. But I can't help but feel this film was made for lobbying purposes more than comedic ones.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

It was a little more like Vampyr crossed with Black Moon. While it was much better than the latter, it is not as good as the former, and I can only give it a qualified recommendation. (It is most enjoyable if you have had a few drinks, you turn off your brain, and you simply bask in its imagery.)
