Speaking of...
DAYS OF FUTURE PAST
I had no say in picking this. I heavily discouraged it and politely suggested the new Daredevil series.
This movie possibly makes Last Stand look semi-alright-sorta. You have three shots the entire film: Lazy laughable cgi, the face closeup, and the must be perfectly framed shot.
The appropriate title should be "Wolverine does more stuff" as people who don't read the comics would need a reference list to know who is who, what they do, and why they matter. And for the slew of characters in the movie who aren't even named there was one I liked who had a decent shot.
Around thirty or forty minutes into this train wreck we do get a really fun with Quicksilver. It's not brilliant, but it makes you want to know so much more about this character. He's dressed like a character in TSRFuture, and his super powers are being quick and being an arse, but he's interesting. And right after that scene...back to Wolverine movie. I'm glad the Quicksilver scene was in the movie, but it didn't serve a purpose.
Stiff acting, and even Jennifer Lawrence couldn't come across as an actual person. And giving Jackman a few grey hairs to make him seem old, and then just get rid of those hairs to make him look younger? Didn't work.
Not Patrick Stewart doesn't seem to even try to be a younger Patrick Stewart.
Boo. 1 out of 4 not Patrick Stewarts.
What was the last movie you've seen?

And now I can't trust Luke to give an opinion on comic book stuff ever again.

I was shocked when I saw it's score on rotten tomatoes. The movie is a hailstorm of mutants that get no explanation. Thought the acting was miserable and almost any time someone spoke the camera was zoomed in squarely on their head.MrPopo wrote:And now I can't trust Luke to give an opinion on comic book stuff ever again.
Wolverine dressing like a 70's pornstar was kind of funny though.

Personally, I enjoyed Days of Future Past. I think it's a better than average X-men film.
My list goes something like this:
Good
........
X2: X-Men United
First Class
Days of Future Past
X-Men
The Wolverine
X3: The last Stand
Origins: Wolverine
........
Bad

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
The other night, my wife and I watched:

Goke, Body Snatcher from Hell (1968). It is a gonzo Japanese horror/science fiction film. It was everything I expected - and more - and I highly recommend that Ack go out and watch it immediately. (I am not sure that anyone else on here would enjoy it as much as I did...

It is, and the late 1960s psychadelic special effects really push it into "totally awesome" territory.Ack wrote:That sounds absolutely amazing.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Goke, Body Snatcher from Hell (1968). Gamerforlife - Let me know what you think of Man of Tai Chi. My wife and I love martial arts movies, and we were shocked at its quality.
DSH - Given your statements regarding The Raid, I think you should check out Tony Jaa's Ong Bak: The Muay Thai Warrior and The Protector. I think that those martial arts films are much more likely to suit your tastes.
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Whoa, hang on there. Onk Bak I am happy to recommend to anyone, but not so much The Protector. Or specifically, not the American cut of the film. If you are interested in this movie, track down Tom-Yum-Goong, the original Thai release. The American cut that was released was heavily butchered. 25 minutes were cut, including sections of fights, dialog, major plot points and characterization, etc.prfsnl_gmr wrote: DSH - Given your statements regarding The Raid, I think you should check out Tony Jaa's Ong Bak: The Muay Thai Warrior and The Protector. Well, I'm excited:

I was pretty indifferent to the first Ant Man trailer, but yes, this one makes me excited. That train wreck at the end... amazing.
