I can never get into the Xbox 360, because of history and frustration. I owned two different Xbox 360's in my life, one of which would red ring every 6-8 hours, even when repaired by Microsoft. The second had a similar situation, just less frequently and was victim to numerous laser failures. I just gave up. Not that the games are bad for the system, but I have the worst luck and I just gave up on it. It is sitting in my closet and probably will never be played, as I just gave up on getting it fixed when I would have to send it out more than 10 times to be repaired, to the point where it's warranty eventually ended.

That's my situation as well. Hence I was not in any hurry to jump on the 360 or PS3 when they debuted.

My model E was the one with the unending laser issues.

Didn't know that was a thing? Is it a common thing? I have not had such an issue with mine. Although I install all the games so they aren't being read by the laser most of the time anyway. Model S is also a nice way to go I hear.

Yeah like I said I feel like I just had horrible luck with it, but at this point the frustration level is too high and it is so engrained in me psychologically, that it is stressful to even try to play a game on it, because I know something will go wrong.

@Exhuminator

It is not a common problem and the model E has an insanely high success rate (somewhere around 98% I think?). I am just really really unlucky with that system.

It's funny as this is the exact opposite of my experience. I bought a Wii back in early 2006 and played the damn thing until the disc drive began wearing out. I've owned both a PS3 and 360 and both ended up on the tradelist within a year. The software library just wasn't compelling for me.

Same situation this gen. My WiiU is racking up ridiculous play time while my PS4 would be a part of Flake Industries' product offering if it weren't for Dragonball Xenoverse. As it is, it's just a matter of time.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I had BOTH a 360 and a PS3 die on me during the last console generation. Red Ring of Death AND Yellow Light of Death.

The PS3 was one of the backwards compatible 60gb models too...
Have: Sega Genesis, SNES, Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari 800XL, PC, N3DS XL, Wii U, GBA, Xbox One, Switch

Bioshock Infinite, Child of Eden, and El Shadai blew me away. I have plenty of games to play, but they're all so time consuming. And it's not like games are difficult...just looooooooong.
I got Bioshock Infinite free off of X-Box Live but I've never played the earlier games. I'll try it out anyway once I'm through Wolfenstein.

Things were like that during the 7th generation, and arguably the 6th as well.

Going back further, I love how distinct the N64, PlayStation, and Saturn were from each other. Same goes for the SNES, Genesis, TurboGrafx-16. Or the NES, SMS, Atari 7800. And so on...
I read once on a retro-PC website, the author said computers back then were different form computers now. Computers back then had personality.

I could have not said it any better. Playing a Saturn or an N64 was seriously a different experience, its a whole different brand. The controllers, the media type, shape, color, game genres, and graphics were a distinct experience.
