My cat likes the taste of Old Spice deodorant. I have to shoo him away from the dirty laundry to prevent him from licking the pits of my undershirts.
I can't help but wonder if this is like antifreeze with dogs or something.

I feel like dogs lick anything; cats only lick strange things that you wouldn't expect them to.

One of my cats tries to lick my Degree straight from the armpit.

Ya know,
I've cut down significantly on the "hygiene" these last few years. I wear deodorant (never antiperspirant) maybe every other day and I shampoo about once a week. I skip showers frequently and when I do take one it's like 30 seconds long.
Despite this, I feel "cleaner" overall and my skin/hair (what's left) looks much healthier.

Honestly it's better for your hair to wash it once every few days instead of daily. Let the natural oils do their thing and all.

I quit antiperspirant years ago as well, only deodorant. For a while I was using the crystal deodorant when I worked at GNC, but I got out of that habit a while ago and now just use Degree. I only shampoo/condition my hair every other day after like 90% of the women I knew told me that was healthier for your hair (and it definitely seems that way).BoneSnapDeez wrote:Ya know,

But I love me my showers. At least daily, sometimes twice, and an easy 20 minutes long.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
My college roomate's cat dug the funk. I was lazy about completely closing the bathroom door when I was 100% certain he wasn't going to be coming home. The cat jumped up behind me when I was doing some solid waste disposal and leaned forward reading once. Another time that he'd gone away for a weekend I had gone on a bike ride in the middle of the summer. I emerged from the shower to find the cat nose deep in my sweaty underwear on the floor.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
So apparently I didn't get a job in Amsterdam where I did amazingly well in the job interview because they chose a woman programmer over me to increase diversity.......and I'm actually ok with that.
I think it even made me a bit happy, because it's a reason I can understand and can get behind (diversity == increased productivity && ideas), and it doesn't make me feel bad like I would have if I had found out it was because I was bad. So good luck to her and hope we see more women other "software engineering minorities" join the field

This reminded me of Jim Gaffigan's jokes on hygiene:BoneSnapDeez wrote:Ya know,

My friend tells me "Ya know, you don't have to wear deodorant/take a shower everyday!", and I responded, "Yeah, but you do".
I have to wear antiperspirant everyday or I'll. I even have to go one step further and switch up my antiperspirants almost every other day or my body builds some weird odor
tolerance to them. Not kidding. As of now in my "antiperspirant caddy" I have Old Spice high endurance, Arid XX, Mitchum, and Right Guard. The old spice is the only one with a scent, as I can't stand scented antiperspirants. Deodorants smell worse than cheap cologne.
I've used clinical strength antiperspirant, but they all smell the same, and the last time I wore it was at my Grandfather's funeral, so anytime I smell the stuff all I can think about is the funeral, so that's a no go too.
My random thought: Just a few days away from Easter. If you are sensitive about religion, just skip what follows.
Growing up, Easter was always a big deal. Now that I've been visiting the in-laws for Easter for nearly a decade, it's lost its charm. Maundy Thursday is a big deal with the Lutheran church. During the Good Friday service, the lights are dim as can be, no music nor hymns, and at the end of the service a door is slammed to represent the closing of the tomb. It is depressing as it gets. Plus you add in lent and Ash Wednesday, and you've not been in the best mood for three months. It's a HUGE build up that leaves you feeling as you actually lost a loved one. At the end of the Good Friday service no one even speaks to each other.
And then Easter Sunday comes and *BOOM!*! Joy, excitement, Easter eggs, gifts, food, party time! It's like, "Man those three months were worth it for today!".
But with the Baptist church, or at least this one, there is no fasting. No giving up something for lent. No Maundy Thursday or depressing Good Friday. You just have Jesus rising from the dead, so celebrate it. It's a super-happy and hallelujah! There's no build up, so there's really no climax. I don't know why, but I feel as if you are going to believe in this story, at least do it justice. Don't cherry pick all the happy moments. And it's not like I need the church to recognize the stations of the cross, but at least mention the suffering.
Maybe it is because I grew up going to both Catholic and Lutheran churches, and perhaps because I am a skeptic, but I've always found the suffering/the passion/the sacrifice to be more profound than the resurrection. Even if some scholar one day said "We made a goof in the translations...People had visions of Christ, they never really saw him", I wouldn't care as that's not what I find to be important.
Wow. Look at me go.
tldr: I think the sacrifice is what matters most, not the part where Jesus comes back from the dead, says "I told you so" and flies into space.
*and for the hallelujah chorus, try singing "King of Beers. Budweiser! Budweiser! Hallelujah! Budweiser!"
