The deals that slipped away..

Post by CaptainWeasel »

I keep missing out on deals that would be phenomenal, so this is that thread to help you reflect on what you couldn't get your hands on in time. Just to add a good note, throw in the best deal you received at the end of the post so that the thread isn't all sadness. :P

A couple days ago, I missed out on a copy of Snatcher and four other games for the Sega CD for 12 dollars. His ad said to leave a number, which I forgot to do and ended up being a little too late. Also missed out on 39 Neo Geo games for 20 dollars, and a complete copy of X-COM UFO Defense for 20 a while back. That's a downside to living in a big city, everybody else wants what you want.

Best deal I probably got was a complete boxed Steel Battalion set for 80 bucks. Still waiting for even bigger finds, though.

A lot of times I've passed up things cause I didn't have eBay at the time or didn't know what they were worth.

Case in point: a boxed NES frontloader fresh and still smelling of factory plastic for $20 at Goodwill.

Another example: complete Shining Force CD at a flea market.

Ouch. The Goodwills around here tend to either A) group all videogame items into one auction, in which the bidding gets outrageous, or B) grossly overprice them. Sometimes some items slip by, like a Virtual Boy with controller and Teleroboxer which I got for 4 bucks. It was broken, but it still looks great.

I just remembered a deal that was too far away for me to get, but it was a top-loading NES with 60 games for 15 dollars. I would have jumped so high to get that, but it was 4 hours away.

Missed out on a few Sega CD games recently.
A guy on a local forum here in SA put up for sale a bunch of games including Popful Mail, both Lunar games, Vay, Earthworm Jim and some others. His asking price was R280 which is around $27-28. I was a little late on the trigger and he sold them to someone else.
