Sons of Anarchy. season 1.
Pretty exciting stuff. It's a far cry from a show such as the Sopranos, but it certainly is entertaining, the characters tend to grow on you, and the scripts are better written than I had imagined.
A buddy told me that the show gets really "stuuuuuuuupid" after the third season, but so far I'm happy with it.
So what have you guys been watching lately?

House of cards is back for a new season on Netflix. I'm trying hard to pace myself and not marathon the whole season all at once.

Finally watched the bulk of It's always sunny in Philadelphia. Great show, wasn't expecting it to be as dark and deranged as it is. Plays out like Cheers crossed with South Park.
Also caught up on the Flash. It's okay. I like how the show embraces the cheesiness but it is very formulaic. Much prefer it over the Batman Begins/Lost concoction that Arrow is though.

Oh man, I loves me some SOA. The series really does sort of lose its way around Season 3-4, but stick with it because Season 5 starts picking up all the loose threads, and steadily accelerates in quality up through the end of the series which manages to tie up all the allegories to Hamlet into a neat little package. Season 2 is probably one of the high notes for the entire series (Hank Rollins FTW, and Katey Sagal was absolutely robbed at the Emmys), so if you've been enjoying it thus far, definitely at least stick with it until then.Luke wrote:Sons of Anarchy. season 1.

Sons of Anarchy is excellent. Definitely a must see series for fans of serious drama. It's not a perfect show, but it kept me riveted to it throughout its run as much as Breaking Bad did.
And it has some of the greatest TV characters ever. Genma is Katey Sagal's defining role, and given her career that's really saying something.

SUNNY is not for everyone, but if you don't mind the neurotic madness that the show is, it is something excellent. Every character is especially annoying in their own little way; something I identify with. I prefer people to be that way. Some say annoying, I say "interesting".Sload Soap wrote:Finally watched the bulk of It's always sunny in Philadelphia. Great show, wasn't expecting it to be as dark and deranged as it is.
Thanks for the head's up, and I plan on sticking with the show even when it's at a low.nullPointer wrote: Oh man, I loves me some SOA. The series really does sort of lose its way around Season 3-4... definitely at least stick with it until then.
Man, that Jax...hands are either stuck in his pockets or arms crossed. He's not a bad actor, but he's not good either. More than enough talent around him to make up for his short comings...and with that said I'm only halfway through season two, so maybe he does "act better" later, but he's a very one dimensional character so far. I'm also nit-picking, can't help it.
Peggy Bundy is a wonder. Let's just say I'm at a point in the show where she was "roughed up" and I have to admit I have no clue what will entail. But! "Gripping" is the word I would use to describe this season so far. Great television.

I am working through the new season of House of Cards and trying to avoid binge watching it. So far, so good.

Sons of Anarchy was good for 4 seasons. I thought that season 5 and 6 were average, but still decent enough to not make fun of.
Season 7 however... well, you can make up your own mind. I will be interested to hear when you think it has jumped the shark.
It never reached Dexter levels of awfulness, but it certainly didn't maintain its high like Breaking Bad. Few shows do though.

Watching Trailer Park Boys! Really funny and I recommend it.
