Amiibo!!
Re: Amiibo!!
GameStop in my area got some Sheik and Mega Man in today, ended up getting just a Mega Man, not too interested in Sheik.

Missed out on the Gold Mario pre-order.
I'm starting to feel a bit burned out scoping these out 24/7.

Dont feel left out, its all bullshit and Nintendo is too blame.
Re: Amiibo!!
I know the feeling. I got in on the one last night around 8, I'm sure they'll be back, there is still some time before they release.s1mplehumar wrote:Missed out on the Gold Mario pre-order.I'm starting to feel a bit burned out scoping these out 24/7.
I did trade a meta knight and king dedede for a US sealed Little Mac and a EU sealed Wii Fit Trainer and another meta knight for a US sealed Pit.
Now waiting on the US wave 4 preorders

FYE started doing Wave 4 pre-orders about a month ago. I ponied up for the lot. Whether or not they actually fulfill my pre-order is another story, girlracer wrote:Now waiting on the US wave 4 preorders

So like I'm curious, seriously about this, but what is the huge fascination with these at this point other than shelf trophies?
I know both smash games use them but from what someone told me the other day is that it just rapidly speeds up the leveling of characters in the game which isn't all that terribly hard to do on your own anyway. I know other games will use them but for what?
Also I recall seeing something about sliding them over whatever and perhaps having some virtual console gem thrown your way in some form.
I do know the Shulk one will do something in Xenoblade on the 3DS, but has it ever been said what that is exactly?

They are collectible, are Nintendo characters which are generally popular anyway, and are displayable collection pieces that have some in-game functionality. Not surprising at all that these are popular.

I used to collection Star Wars figures and to this day I'll buy some little figurine at Target or something (that section with all the Magic cards and stuff) and display on a shelf. I'm not a super huge Nintendo fan but it's something I like to collect that's based around video games, so that interests me.Tanooki wrote:So like I'm curious, seriously about this, but what is the huge fascination with these at this point other than shelf trophies?

Gold Mario is/was in stock on Walmart again: http://www.walmart.com/ip/43814229
I was able to grab one. Pro tip: use the Page Monitor addon for Chrome to monitor changes on the checkout page in the background. It notified me when it saw that, after it checked, the "out of stock" notification had gone away and I was able to scoot in and grab one.
