Bad news [read from Play-Asia's listing and Famitsu]...DDPDOJBLEX is no longer slated for December 25. Ketsui was already delayed past January as well. Hopefully this means a little more attention to detail. Or even more hopeful, it would be nice to think that maybe Cave has shown more interest and is giving the game a thorough check. Are they allowed to do that after selling the port license? They should be.

I won't believe this information until Japhei blogs about it - without citing sources...

Received my JXbox 360 last week from NCSX (12/4/08). It's definitely the latest and greatest build. It had a Mfg. date of Nov. 08. I've got stuff in my fridge older than that.

The box allows you to set the system menus to english, which was nice. Otomedius G. on the other hand, has very little English. I'll have to find a menu translation when I get around to it.

Not sure if they've improved the D-Pad lately, but the one that came with my controller isn't as awful as I thought it would be.

Next step is to grab a cheap 20GB drive, and I'll be all set.

^Excellent. Thanks for letting us know. November '08 is definitely recent! I bought Raiden Fighters Aces recently, but not the system yet! I'm waiting for the Canadian dollar to regain some losses, although that might not happen for years...

I did the same thing- bought Otomedius and Raiden fighters aces, simply because they're limited releases, while I could always pick up a system.

And if you aren't picky about HDMI, processor build, etc.. the older systems are going to be dirt cheap (just look at that guy on Amazon). There's absolutely no reason anyone in Japan would want them, so they've gotta go somewhere.

I, on the other hand, was completely paranoid about the red rings (all of my friends have 360s, and all of them have sent their systems in), so I sprung for the new model.

Funny thing is, none of my friends are terribly bitter about their systems going sour. Just a fact of life they're willing to deal with.

I still have not bought my JPN XBOX360 yet. I was thinking that the longer I wait, the better the chance I will get one of the newer version. So far, I've already bought a used 20GB hdd, raiden fighters aces, otomedius, raiden iv, pre-ordered ketsui from Play-asia, but still no XBOX360. :( I am waiting for a christmas deal from NCSX to buy the arcade system. If not, the maybe next year when the newest version with the built in 256 meg memory comes out in JPN I will get my Shmups on!!!

Just so you know, the new models (w/ 256MB storage built-in) are available on playasia.

I got an email from Play-Asia, it seems that my DoDonPachi pre-order has been set back until February 20th, 2009. Just thought I'd give a heads up for anyone else who is thinking of importing this one. In the meantime, I'm still playing Raiden IV heavily as of late, and Raiden Fighters Aces is still seeing a semi-regular slot in my game rotation. I also downloaded Galaga Legions on Live Arcade, and have been putting a fair amount of time into it as well. It is a solid challenge to be certain.

Looking forward to the day (hopefully soon) when the rest of you get your import consoles and start playing these gems. Some of the Achievement descriptions are a little confusing, and I could definately use the insight of my friends here in determining what exactly you must do on some of them to get them to unlock.

Still no date for Ketsui though. Unfortunately, I bought them together for the combo price; so Dodonpachi will come when Ketsui comes :(

I was impressed when I found the Raiden Aces achievements were in English. Very refreshing, after playing Otomedius Gorgeous:
"Hey, I got another achievement"
"For what?"
"Beats the hell outta me..."
