Did a run checking stores today for new Amiibo figures. Found a Sonic at TRU and nothing at the rest of my stops. I'll be waiting till my sonic pre-order arrives before I open one up. Mine has a bit of the "sonic sweat" that has been reported on a few figures.

Hopefully more of this current wave will show up soon. :)

I do not own a wii u yet and am not all that interested in the amiibo craze but I do love the zelda franchise. a while back I picked up a link just to set in my shelf. yesterday I was running errands with my daughter and told her we'd go to toys r us to find her a cubby figure (from jake and the Pirates). figured while I was there I'd grab a zelda to match my link. well, wouldn't you know... there was a small line of people waiting as a lady unboxed the new releases. figured what the hell... picked up zelda, toon link, and sheik. I now have all the current zelda related amiiibo and nothing to do but look at them.

So my girlfriend bought a Wii U and has suddenly become very taken with collecting these things AFTER most of the preorder dates.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get in on the apparent rush yesterday (which is a shame since I could personally go for a MegaMan).

But, we now have a Kirby, Sheik, Toon Link, Rosalina, Lucario, Samus, and a Shulk on the way. I managed to get them all in stores at the regular price, but man, some employees were super helpful and some were just astonishingly rude about these things. As a collector and gamer, it's pretty funny to watch her struggle with whether she should open certain ones.

Yeah I noticed this the rudeness first hand when trying to get a Little Mac earlier. What drove me crazy was that the employee I asked worked at a store in the same retail chain as me and was feeding me bullshit that I constantly called her out on and she was adamant that I didn't know what I was talking about. I KNOW WE HAVE STOCK IN THE BACK ROOM BECAUSE I WORK IN THIS SAME DEPARTMENT AT A DIFFERENT STORE! She was insistent that we have zero back stock stored in our back room and that is an out and out lie. Talked to the manager and they just asked the same employee if we had anything and she said no even though their computers state they had numerous in stock.

I am a helpful person about it at my store and give people tips on how to secure the figures. You can spot a reseller a mile away though, because they always ask for multiples of the same item. I'm not rude to them, but I always like to make little jabs like, "Sadly we don't. As soon as we get stuff in, resellers swoop in like a bunch of scummy vultures."

Yeah, I would honestly understand some of the rudeness if I was coming off as a reseller and wondered a couple times if people were automatically assuming I was but I don't ever ask about multiples.

Seems to really depend on the store and the employee. I had a girl get me a Lucario because another employee was hoarding them in the back and telling people there weren't any or something and she thought it was a really shitty thing to do.

Yeah I have a guy who I work with who tried to do the same thing and I made sure to go out of my way to get them out to people. It is ridiculous how weird these things are making people behave.

I missed my Lucario since that was the only figure TRU had in and I wasn't going to make the hour and twenty minute round trip drive just to grab one. Then I missed my Shulk because I've had the flu and now pneumonia and couldn't make it to pick him up. I don't think I even care as long as I get my MT and De. I'm not going to bother getting all the Smash line since I don't even care about most of these characters. I'll probably ebay my boxed US Marth, WFT and Villager to recoup some of the cost of the figure I want to keep and others I want in the future. I know I want to get the Mario Bros. line and got Toad online for delivery to store along with the Mario Party LE. I still wish they would make Captain Toad and Toadette Amiibo though.

Sonic came in the mail today and he looks pretty snazzy :)

I also went to Walmart to pick up a couple of things and found that they'd finally got some new amiibo stock in, other than the two rows of nothing but Peach and Kirby that have been there for weeks. They're now stocked up on Mario, Peach, Bowser, Link, Pikachu, Luigi, Diddy, Zelda and Sheik. The display's still half empty, but at least they finally got some more stock in and updated the labels to include the price drops and the new figures that should be out by the 20th.

A Nintendo meeting brought up that Amiibo cards would likely be coming out this year.
Iwata through Google Translate wrote: In addition, as the future development, as Miyamoto was talk in the management policy briefing of October, ever figure of amiibo different card shapes of amiibo also plans to expand this year.
It's something they've talked about before as well.

Here we go.
