Super Magnetic Neo.

Good looking platformer but frustrating as hell.
Early doors but I'm thinking I'm gonna pass on this.

FYI there's a semi remake on DS that you could give a go first, then figure out if you wanted to go for the DC (Or N64) version.

The DS version isn't a remake at all. It has unique levels, weapons and gameplay mechanics. It's a sequel.

That said, the DS version is amazing, and I'd recommend that as the game to start with. I did.

I paid £20 (so that's, what, about $30ish?) for Bangai-0 and I think it's worth every penny. It's so addictive and one of my favourite Dreamcast games. It's very underrated.

I imagine you may be able to get it cheaper than $50 if you look out for good deals on Ebay.

Technically it's cross-compatible with the Gamecube version as well. Sylverant just doesn't support it. There are a lot of exploits in PSO, and I guess that it just gets worse when you add in the Gamecube version.

That said, Gamecube PSO is pretty great. 4-player offline mode, some cool unique items, and a couple of weird "bugs" were fixed. But given the price of the game, a modem or BBA, and a keyboard - It's a lot less accessible (in my opinion at least) than the PC or DC versions.
Ghudda wrote:As far as my Dreamcast gaming, I picked up a copy of Feet of Fury homebrew sealed at a local game shop for $10. I have yet to pop it in, though.
Anyone have experience with the game? Worth investing in a dance pad for or does it play just fine with the controller? Also, any other goatstore homebrew games worth investing in for the Dreamcast (Irdes, Inhabitants, Cool Herders, Maquipai)?
I think you can get the goat store bundle for $50 shipped from their site. I've been meaning to do this for awhile. Just grabbed a dance pad from Noise, unfortunately I haven't taken the time to get Feet of Fury yet. The dance pad was japan only, so it's cool that they supported it. That alone makes it worthwhile to me. But i'm a sucker for that kind of novelty.

I'd agree with everyone else and say the DS version is definitely the way to go. If you like that enough, then consider the DC version. I'd say at $50 it's kind of steep.

Fair enough. I hadn't gotten to it yet. :)

I was getting ready to pick up a copy of Bangai O on the DS but I could have sworn I had bought a copy a long time ago. Surely enough, it was in my closet so i'll give that one a go.

Has anyone here played Lack of Love (L.O.L.) or any of the Love-de-Lic games for that matter? L.O.L. has been on the top of my want list for the Dreamcast for a while now but is it any good? I'm curious about the other LDL games on the other platforms (UFO and Moon on the PS1).

Anyone else eagerly awaiting a review for HuCasts newly released platformer, "Alice's Mom's Rescue" (that name though)? The game demands a pretty rediculous price (this has also been discussed by the developer on DC-talk, who says he also thinks the price is a bit rediculous), but it's refreshing to a see a homebrew release that isn't a shmup.

$38 + shipping? That's cheaper than any of the NG:Dev games.

Kind of skeptic on anything Hucast after the Dux games. I can definitely get behind people making DC games... Those ones just don't look very good. And their ethics as a company seem a little sketchy at best.

That said, i'm only recently even looking at the homebrew DC stuff. But this game totally went under my radar. Thanks for posting about this!

***Just watched video of this.

$38 is really steep.

This looks to be a pretty primitive, simple platformer. Not to downplay the accomplishment of someone creating a game for modern systems - but it just seems like a poor fit for the system (or physical production, really).

Lack of Love is a very charming game. I'm not easily captivated by games like most - but this one has a Pikmin-esque uniqueness to it. It doesn't have natural feelings of accomplishment though. I never beat it (assuming it can be beat) but for me to enjoy a non-linear game is something (trust me)...think of it as a cross of Pikmin and Harvest Moon, maybe.
