What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

This was my first time watching this and I was impressed by the atmosphere and environments they created. The pace was pretty breakneck though with the story stuffing over 3+ years worth of events within a little over two hours film. A lot of plot points felt really rushed/brushed over and the impact of the ending was lessened by it. Overall it is an awesome movie but it definitely would have benefited from being stretched out into a 2 or 3 movies instead of being crammed into 1.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, hang on a second. It depends on the cut of the film you find. The original rough cut is 4 hours long, and David Lynch's planned version was 3 hours. I've seen a few of the "restored versions" as well that add to the length, including a 1988 release that was 186 minutes long.

Now the Blue-Ray version is the original 137 minute release, but if you can find some of the other, longer versions that have been leaked, please check them out. They fix some of the pacing issues but add in others. And Lynch refuses to release a Director's Cut, unfortunately, so we'll never get the "official" 3-hour long version.
Regardless of the cut, is still way too short. It would have been better to tackle that book at a more relaxed pace with two three-hour movies.
Paging Peter Jackson...
Peter Jackson, please report to the next series of needlessly long movies made from old fantasy novels...

Guys and gals...I think we might need to hold an intervention for Ack. I think he might be addicted to terrifying himself with horrible movies.

The 1988 version (I think) you mentioned was officially released on DVD in 2006. Dune Extended Edition, came in a steelbook. I think it's the same version Sci-Fi showed when I originally saw the film.
Their miniseries is interesting, though flawed in all sorts of its own ways  The material certainly would benefit from a longer form show or something.

A Netflix original miniseries would be a good format for Dune. I missed the Sci-fi channel miniseries. I did watch the 1984 movie. I thought the pacing was poor, but that also holds true for the book. There's a long, slow beginning that builds up to more interesting stuff later on.

Aliens(Special edition) and Predator with the missus, as she had never seen Aliens (!).

We watched them back to back which had the undesired effect of making the latter seem bland and plodding. I know Predator is essentially a good B-Movie with a fantastic creature (the Predator's crabby minge face still looks brilliant) but I always thought it was more action-y and fast paced. Not so much. We couldn't decide which film was more quoteable though. I say Aliens, she said Predator.

Still waiting on that Alien vs Predator Vs Terminator movie, rights be damned.

I thought Terminator had to fight Robocop first.

After Robocop vs Terminator it was decided by a council of elders that Robocop was too OP for any further crossovers and was asked to sit this one out.

Saw the new Spongebob last night. The whole fam got a kick out of it (though I think I had more fun watching my son react to stuff than I did with anything in the film itself). If you like SB even a little, it is worth catching.
