Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
As a kid I only played Game Boy while traveling. Using it inside my home just felt odd when I could play NES or SNES instead. Of course in those days portables were something of a pain to play, with their AA batteries and lack of backlight.
These days, I love portables above all else. I've probably sunk more time into my DS than all of my 6th and 7th gen home systems combined.

Yes, and even making your own stages. One of the better black box games for sure.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Wrecking Crew is such a great, under-rated NES classic. I love that game.

And rightly so. Unbelievably awesome library just for starters. Best handheld ever IMO. I've owned one since 2007 and I'm still playing new (to me) games on it today and can see myself doing so for many years to come. I love my PSP, Vita, and 3DS, but the DS is truly where it's at.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I've probably sunk more time into my DS than all of my 6th and 7th gen home systems combined.

I am excited for Persona 5 for sure. I don't have a PS4 so I'll be playing it on the PS3. I know it'll take forever to come state side though.

Agreed. The Nintendo DS library is just immense, and like the PS1, I am always discovering new games for it.Exhuminator wrote:And rightly so. Unbelievably awesome library just for starters. Speaking of the PS1 library...did any of you know that there is a Primal Rage-inspired, Jurassic Park-licensed, 2.5D fighting game for the PS1? I didn't know that until this weekend. Will I ever reach the bottom of that system's library?!

Yup! And as a kid I loved it.
It's not actually a very good game. But man what a cool concept. Even today I'd love a gritty fighting game where Dinosaurs could rip the crap out of eachother.

I remember reading as of 2006, over 7,900 unique PS1 titles had been released worldwide. So it's not likely.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Will I ever reach the bottom of that system's library?!

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I can't help but be fired up for Persona 5. One thing in particular that caught my attention was the implementation of platforming and stealth mechanics. Could Atlus be doing away with the procedurally-generated dungeons in favor of something more traditional? I can't imagine stealth being incorporated in a meaningful way if levels are cobbled together randomly.
I just got done skimming through this dissection of the trailer and can't wait to see what's up next. Hopefully we see a real evolution for the series. http://www.heypoorplayer.com/2015/02/06 ... breakdown/
This is Atlus' flagship series, and the developer definitely knows it. While a re-tread of old and would be fine I'm really hoping we see grander things this time around.

I've barely scratched the surface of the PS1. I own maybe 50 games, almost all of them RPGs.

My PS1 collection is one of my largest collections, and there are still 150+ games on my "want" list. The system's library is just out-of-control.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I've barely scratched the surface of the PS1. I own maybe 50 games, almost all of them RPGs.
