Add "mania" to the end of every food item.
Oh dear Lord my neighbors may have heard me laugh after reading this.

"SHRIMP MANIA!"

Good job Senor Popo. Good job indeed.

I need to re-watch the films first, as certainly the Hulkster cooks a few dishes in NANNY. Also could use "Tiny" in a dish for NO HOLDS.

Throw out as many ideas as you can, but either way, a Hulk Hogan movie crap-a-thon will be a winner.

Not sure, and there are still different scripts floating and I haven't even seen concept art.

...but without a shadow of a doubt I think this is going to destroy. Both atthe box office and commercially. I mean: VOLTRON, Dreamworks, Great Writers.

So I decided not to part with the giant stack of DVDs and Blus that I had up as they fetch a pittance anymore. A shame.

Instead, I plan to actually watch (again) all these movies I have kicking around with more regularity. Today, for the first time in eons, I watched Being John Malkovich.

Spike Jonze is the best. The humor is just flawless. A study in self-deprecation.

The best part that isn't the Malkovich in his own head part, for my money, is the first ~30 seconds in this clip: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/an-aaDyJt ... malkovich/

It's amazing that the man who makes such smart movies like Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, and Her is also the guy that makes the Jackass movies.

Just watched Hentai Kamen. Freaking hilarious.

*hostage situation*
Criminal: We demand a helicopter.
MC: Someone get them a helicopter!
Cop: Look around you. There's no room to land a helicopter.
MC: ... then why are they demanding a helicopter?
Cop: They're idiots.

It kinda drags on in the latter half, but it's definitely worth watching.

VOLTRON.

I know. Awesome right?
Considering the other steaming piles of reimaginationings of things I liked as a kid that have come out somewhat recently, I'm just going to go ahead and say no preemptively and save myself the aggravation. Granted some of those things weren't actually good to begin with or were aimed squarely at children with no redeeming qualities for adults, but still.

In Time

In Time, starring that other JT, is a movie with an exciting and provocative concept with an uneven execution. The central concept is that time is currency. People have countdown clocks built into their arm that let them know how much time they have left to live, and they exchange time instead of money. The idea is really fun to think about as it places a lot of value on every action, and there is a horrific class struggle between the poor and the wealthy. Every decision clearly relates to the rest of your life when you could die in 2 hours if you can't find work or pull a scam. I wish the story was a little more Robin Hood and a little less Bonnie & Clyde, but I like the basic concept so much I'm willing to recommend it. For a short story with a similar idea, see also Harlan Ellison's Repent, Harlequin! Said the Ticktockman:

Just knocked off two movies that have been on my list for a while...

I love Daniel Day-Lewis. I thought There Will Be Blood was a great movie... but it really was a sad movie.

Spoiler alert
Probably less than halfway through the movie I was thinking that maybe Plainview would be dead by the end. Maybe he dies of natural causes, or maybe he's murdered by one of the people he's wronged. Like the competitor guy that he threatened to kill, then reminded him again about it later in the movie. Or Eli Sunday, which maybe you wouldn't see coming because he's a man of God but finally got pushed too far by Plainview. In fact, during the last scene of the movie, I was thinking maybe I was right. Maybe Eli kills Plainview. But then, no. Plainview kills Eli. And why? Well, sort of just because.

Plainview tells his son that he was an orphan, that he was only a face to make his various deals, and basically tells him to go fuck off. But then there's some flashbacks of HW as a kid with his father. So whether or not he actually was an orphan, it's clear that Plainview did in fact love him, which makes the character of Plainview all the more sad. Then the movie ends with Plainview killing Eli, who was probably the last person in the movie that deserved to die, and you're left feeling just kind of awful. At least, I was.

The Wolf of Wall Street wasn't nearly as sad.

Possible spoilers?
I think this was one of those movies that I put off watching long enough to have too many people tell me how fucking awesome it is. So the expectations go up, and you end up being let down. I'm not saying it was a bad movie. It was a good movie. But I didn't find it to be super terrific insane best thing I've seen in a LONG time kind of movie.

I feel like it was all things I've seen before. A guy goes from nothing to riches/fame/drugs/women/good times then back to a modest life, the end. Did I just describe Good Fellas or Wolf of Wall Street?

That all might sound like I'm bashing both movies, but I don't mean to. I thought they were both great movies, definitely worth watching at least once.

There Will Be Blood was definitely going for that vibe. I really liked it personally, but its not for everybody.
