Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
Mario Maker apparently got delayed into the second half of the year, which confuses me since it's not anything complex, at least from what I saw in the trailer.

A move like that would almost surely be strategic so they can space out releases so there aren't holes in their list of things to come out.

I'm sorry, I really don't see the business logic in this, since the console is really struggling software wise.

I think the delay may have been due to the inclusion of skins from other Mario eras, but don't quote me on that, I'm not 100%.

There may be no logic in it, but Nintendo does it all the time on every system going back probably to the NES itself. They will shuffle around releases so they can get something out once every month or two for a steady stream around whatever else maybe popping up. While they're suffering bad on disc, their download services get a steady stream of stuff so they'd be wedging it in there.

Like many Nintendo titles, they go to great effort to do just that -- make it look not complex. The rule set behind the scenes to make it all function must be a small nightmare.
Given the freedom and flexibility, there must be unexpected bugs to quash...and Nintendo still keeps a relatively small house of developers split between a lot of promising titles right now. It's really no biggie, a title like this certainly isn't going to make or break the system because of a little delay.
Re: Wii-U thoughts so far
I look at it like this: I REALLY want to play Mario Maker. If Nintendo wants to delay its release, well, great! If they're not completely satisfied, or need the time to fix bugs, whatever else, why wouldn't you want them to delay it? I'd rather it be delayed, and get an awesome product that was worth the wait, rather then have them release it now with bugs or not as good as it could have been, or an awesome feature of the game sold as DLC some time after its release.
I mean, how many times have you heard "You had to download a huge patch on launch day" or "The game launched without online play, it was patched in a week later" or other such stuff.

Absolutely! I've got over 20 Wii U games on the shelf, not bored in the slightest.
If anyone really wants to get elbows deep in their own Mario game in the meantime, there's always Super Mario Bros. X.

Thank you for posting the link to Super Mario Bros. X. I had head about and seen this game a while ago, but had completely forgotten about it until I saw your comment here.

There's been Lunar Magic and Reggie! for some time now, which is probably half the reason why Nintendo thought a Mario Maker game would be successful.
