Sonic Colors - yes, this is a Wii essential.
Fire Emblem - no, but maybe yes because...well, just no because I don't like it.
New Super Mario Bros - no...unfortunately ends up as the weaker entry in the series. Still a great game, but not great enough considering the competition.
Super Smash Bros Wii - no...not the finest moment for the series, and there are better games than it.
Metroid other M - A big fat no dripping with Samus's tears. Prime Trilogy due to 1 & 2 being vastly improved by the waggle wand...although it loses a few points for part 3. Whatever, the tip of part 3's pinky finger has more interest than all of Other M.
Muramasa - yes
A Boy and His Blob - yes
Endless Ocean Blue World - no...an honourable mention though.
Mario Galaxy 1 AND 2 - no, just 2.
Wii Sports or Wii Sports Resort - AUGH. Hard choice. Probably Wii Sports due to not needing the waggle wand upgrade and just the universal accessibility of it.
No More Heroes or No More Heroes 2 - 2, boss fights alone elevate it
RE 4 or Ghost Squad - Ghost Squad, RE4 is a fat stinking turd.
List: Best 30 Wii Games plus Ghost Squad (10 years from now)
Re: Compiled List: Best Wii Games (10 years from now)
Sonic Colors - Yes. As irixith said, I consider this to be essential.
Fire Emblem - no opinion
New Super Mario Bros - No. Its good, but felt to me a bit like a placeholder title. Give the spot to Donkey Kong.
Super Smash Bros Wii - No. I love it, but Wii U makes it redundant.
Metroid other M - Yes. I liked this one a lot.
Muramasa - Haven't played it yet, I lean towards yes based on others comments. If that isn't decisive enough to count then I understand.
A Boy and His Blob - Same as above
Endless Ocean Blue World - Same as above
Mario Galaxy 1 AND 2 - Yes, though I feel like these could be one entry. Maybe that's cheap, but...
Wii Sports or Wii Sports Resort - Unpopular opinion: I say neither. My copy of wii sports has seen maybe 2 or 3 hours total playtime since I bought my wii. I've never understood the hoopla over these minigame collections. Just because it sold like hotcakes during the wii craze doesn't mean its on the same level of quality as the rest of these games. But feel free to ignore me on this, I know I'm the minority.
No More Heroes or No More Heroes 2 - no opinion
RE 4 or Ghost Squad - Ghost Squad. Control differences aside, I consider RE4 to be a gamecube game. Frankly I don't think any of the new play control titles should count either, for the same reason. I can see those aren't on the list of course, I'm just saying.

Have you played through the entire game?dsheinem wrote:I don't know. Being the first good Sonic game since the 16-bit era doesn't necessarily mean it is one of the Top 25 Wii games.

Yup. Here were my thoughts: http://racketboy.com/forum/viewtopic.ph ... 06#p763106Exhuminator wrote:Have you played through the entire game?dsheinem wrote:I don't know. Being the first good Sonic game since the 16-bit era doesn't necessarily mean it is one of the Top 25 Wii games.
Solid game? Yes. One of the best Sonic games? Not really. One of the top 25 on the Wii? No...but I'd put it in the top 50!

Surprised to see so many "yes" votes for New Super Mario Bros Wii - it's clearly outclassed by the Wii U game in my opinion and not a game that I thought most people would feel bad about missing out on. (Obviously others disagree.)
This isn't a vote. I think there has been plenty of good discussion, and I'd be ok with the list either way. There will likely never be 100% consensus because there were so many fun niche titles on the system and not a ton of "blockbusters".

Re: Compiled List: Best Wii Games (10 years from now)
I'd say it is the best console mainline Sonic game that isn't on the Sega Genesis or isn't Generations. I like Sonic 4 better, too...I think. That's not especially high praise for Colors, though, because pretty much every other mainline Sonic console game sucks quite a fair amountExhuminator wrote:We obviously live in alternate dimensions, that's all I can say man.dsheinem wrote:One of the best Sonic games? I'd say it is probably the sixth eighth or ninth best Sonic game. Is that "one of the best"?

Re: Compiled List: Best Wii Games (10 years from now)
It's at least the best Sonic game on Wii. And Colors is one of the very best Wii games I have played, easily in the top 25. At one time I owned about 240 Wii games, no kidding! So I kind of have a frame of reference going on here.dsheinem wrote:I'd say it is probably the sixth eighth or ninth best Sonic game. Is that "one of the best"?
Anyway, it will be interesting to see how this thread's list ends. I'll be okay with whatever it is as long as Star Successor makes the list.
PS
New Super Mario Bros Wii is stale bread Mario, come on people!

So is my view on it less valid because I've only owned maybe ~150 Wii games at various points?Exhuminator wrote:And Colors is one of the very best Wii games I have played, easily in the top 25. I did the "paring down" thing with my Wii library that foregrounds the OP here a couple of years ago and certainly kept Colors. I have maybe ~75 Wii games now, and I think Colors is pretty squarely in the middle of that pack. More importantly, it isn't a Sonic game I'd be as likely to want to go back to in ten years if I had to decide between it or some of its contemporaries or between it and some other titles for the Wii.
We can agree to disagree and debate it a bit, but given how often both of us post in the Games Beaten thread, let's not question one another's credentials
Re: Compiled List: Best Wii Games (10 years from now)
Sonic Colors is not better than Super Mario Bros Wii. That may seem like an opinion but it's not - it is a demonstrable fact. If Sonic Colors makes the list but Super Mario Bros Wii doesn't, then I think a mistake has been made or we have lost sight of our goal.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
