What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Hey! That's not nice!

I really enjoyed that movie, and I laughed out loud when they brought in the muslim camera woman. ("Are Muslims OK?" "Uh...I don't know. I guess we'll find out.")

Not a movie I have seen, but maybe y'all can fill me in.

How's The Babadook?

It's gotten a lot of love but also quiet a bit of hate, is it worth watching? I've been pretty eager.

I thought The Babadook was wonderful and totally worth watching. It does a wonderful job of moving back and forth between the two leads so the viewer sees both as either the hero or the antagonist at varying points. While the plot itself isn't terrifying, and it is definitely a lower budget indie film, it's an effective film.

Excellent. Yeah visually and conceptually, the movie sounded really interesting so I'll give it a go.

More stuff to add to my Prime watchlist. Must pay more attention to the thread here.

Yup. Definitely worth seeing. Genuinely creepy at parts, and wonderfully thought provoking.

Steele Justice

"You don't recruit John Steele. You unleash him."

There are good action films. There are bad action films. And there are action films so ridiculous that after a while you realize you are watching it solely for the spectacle of it all and laughing the whole time. Steele Justice falls into this third category, where a Vietnam vet with a wooden face played by Martin "Sweep the Leg" Kove must take on the Vietnamese mafia in California after they kill his best friend and old army buddy. This movie has everything: Martin Kove wearing camouflage that looks like a little kid skull face paint from a state fair(if he had said "I like turtles," I would have lost it), Vietnamese people training with Japanese swords and armor just to show how Asian they are to the audience, the ultimate villain wearing a mumu, everything. There's even an '80s training montage of Kove wearing only baby blue running shorts on the beach!

Yes, it's laughably bad. But at the same time, it does feature the likes of Ronny Cox, Bernie Casey, Peter Kwong, and the always beloved Al Leong. This is not a Schwarzenegger or Stallone level of action film. This is something you compare to Brian Bosworth in Stone Cold...and declare Bosworth the better actor.

Ah, thanks dude. Was waiting for that redux input. I'll take your word for it. Wish it was out on BluRay in the US and not only in Australia. I believe it's available for paid streaming in the US though so I'll probably resort to that.

Død snø

Nazi zombies. Let me say that again. Nazi zombies. This gory little horror spot is an odd take on the zombie genre, full of splatter and spray and short on explanation for why Nazis are able to return as zombies and search for a box full of gold(it's explained more in the sequel apparently). But what you do get is some self-referential goreporn, a character who loves film and gets killed in a manner that totally befits his Braindead t-shirt, some cringe-inducing scenes, and more than a couple of jump scares. It has a strange obsession with intestines too. If you like zombie films, particularly ones that don't take themselves too seriously, check this one out. If you're bored of zombie films, don't, though this is definitely one of the better ones out there. Suck it, Zombies! Zombies! Zombies!

Nemesis

In the near future, cyborgs are trying to take over the world, information terrorists are everywhere, the LAPD has jurisdiction just about everywhere in the world, and everyone has a great ass. Sure, the plot is complicated, the acting at times horrible, and the script at times lacking...yet I don't care. The acting gets better over time, the action is balls-to-the-wall awesome throughout the entire film, there are some great special effects considering the budget, and there's a certain charm to how much some of the actors struggle with their accents. There's also a lot of B movie actors and bit part players that do phenomenal jobs. Watching Sven-Ole Thorsen get his butt kicked by an old lady is gold. Thomas Jane, Jackie Earle Haley, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagama, Brion James, Tim Thomerson, Deborah Shelton, Marjorie Monaghan...this movie is gold! It's an awesome low budget, limited release cyberpunk action film that fans of the genre should check out.
