telling a girl how much you love video games

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Hmm... that site's actually legit :| .
Yeah I heard about it after I got married but I think it's a great idea.

I just tend to be honest about my interests. I also try to put things into perspective to help come to an understanding - like I don't act like my hobbies consume me. My fiancee may not share my interest in sci-fi, comic books, video games, and collecting Transformers  but she respects my hobbies and gives me space, and vice versa. We do have common interests where we can spend quality time together - like travel or theater. Mutual respect and making time for each other is key.

The problem with my other hobbies is that they're all geeky. I'm a movie geek too, which is ok. I really enjoy history as well as discovering bizarre facts about the world. And I have an interest in martial arts.

Oh, and I was a huge Star Wars geek for a long time. I can actually do an ok Wookie yell. Basically I just act as overtly geeky as possible, and it apparently works to endear me to people as opposed to repelling them. And if they think less of me for being this way, fuck 'em.

Meh. They've gotta make money somehow. Also, the closest person to me is 30 miles aways. My fourth hit is over 200 miles away. Friggin' Utah.

Personally I don't think that the video game collection is the problem. If a woman asked how your day went and you mentioned a virtual boy score your doing it wrong.

Unless your so obsessed with gaming that you can't have a normal conversation then the collection isn't a problem. If that is the case you need to go meet people and work on your social skills.

I tell people about my collection all the time even in business small talk situations and it's never a problem, just don't over do it. Don't make it sound like it's the only interesting thing you have to talk about.

I'm not talking about lying or even avoiding the subject. If someone says so what are you interested in and your reply about gaming involves pauses to take a breath your being overbearing. If you say something like "interest 1", gaming "interest 3" odds are they will say oh that's cool and start talking about whatever.

as much as i love games they never make my day (except on rare occasions but even then). What makes my day interesting are klutzy things i end up in like falling down the stairs, putting my hand on the hot stove and stuff like that. Luckily since the move to denver, more actually exciting things have happened aside from the adrenaline of hurting myself.

Ack wrote:"I like video games" and then grin stupidly.

As for my current girlfriend...well, I don't remember the exact wording...
CURRENT GIRLFRIEND!?!?! "current girlfriend" -Like you need to annotate it like that.... like this is the "current SANDWICH you are enjoying. Your girlfriend better be THE sandwich!

*ahem*
By the way, I think responding to "how did your day go?" and you reply "well, I beat this score..." is a perfectly acceptable gamer couple discussion. In fact, it's great, cuz you may not find so many others who would give a damn about that.

Also I know a couple who met playing WoW and then she moved from California to marry him... in high school
