Some of the cheapie DVDs I picked up in the last year or two of my DVD-buying days (I've basically given up and relegated all my physical-media money to games) were set up like that, so I don't think that's necessarily Gone Away, just not as popular anymore with the high-end releases

I would love if they would start packaging Blurays with only the movie on one disc (Superbit style, remember those?) and an extra Blu for all the "extras". It bugs me when I get a movie with a low bitrate and 4 hours of extras crammed on the disc. Enough so that I would pay extra for this.

It isn't too bad when they are using a 50GB disc and add a few things, but some of these budget titles of late cram tons of extras or even worse multiple movies on a 25GB disc. No thanks.

I bought some DVDs in around 2009 or so that were double sided. One movie on each side, they were crappy grindhouse or unknown spaghetti westerns, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Went out Sunday night to my local watering hole for the yearly holiday party. What a great time, but really it always is. It's a private party, so she does open bar for roughly the first hour and a half or so, sometimes a bit longer (that USED to be the standing bar special for years, but that's kiiiinda technically illegal to do in New York so when it got publicized she had to shut it down), and the downstairs bartender is also the owner so she always mixes strong for her regulars (I've had friends who don't go often tell me they've even noticed their drinks getting stronger just by talking with me while we stand at the bar together because she realizes we're friends. End of the night as you leave there's always presents, too -- this year it was a long-sleeved shirt with the bar name and mascot (Theda Bara, an old burlesque/silent film star)

I've dated or attempted to date a half dozen girls from that bar, it never ends well. To the point where my best friend has been given clearance to kick me in the nuts if he sees me trying to pick someone up from there. However, my best friend was not at the holiday party this year

Definitely in my drunken state wandered over to say hi to a friend of mine who was sitting near a girl I had seen there before but never spoken to -- just breathtakingly pretty girl, and ended up talking with said girl I didn't know for a good long while until her ride was leaving so she had to go. I offhandedly said something to a friend of mine about "was talking with blahblah for twenty minutes there" and she laughs and says "That was way more than twenty minutes"

I should know better. She's a lot younger than me, most of our mutual friends (I've seen her face pop up on my facebook feed before which actually let me send her a friend request today) are not exactly the most sane people, and I'm not really sure if she's even single... but boy she was pretty. And, probably owing to my inebriation, surprisingly approachable.

This reminds me of the time I discovered that one of the bartenders at my preferred watering hole at the time had been a Playboy bunny. That was a good day.

Sounds like a fun night Kalessin. I literally cannot remember the last time I went to a bar, flirted with a woman (except my wife), or pretty much any of the other things you mentioned. I've had kids since I was 18, married since 20, my last vice was alcohol and I had to dump that too. Not being a downer though, it's a good life...however, I do miss being able to be unaccounted for sometimes. My teenage daughter doesn't miss being unaccounted for at all, oh those damn teenage boys! That's the real circle of life.

Any one over 40 can tell me how it is to be gaming in that age? Does it have the same effect? Do you grow out of it? Do you still get excited over new releases? Are your other friends in same age group still play games?

I remember the WideScreen -Full Screen options and it used to confused me especially in the CRT days. Do you watch a full screen movie or the one with half the top and half the bottom is black?

For me, the desire is still there but the drive has faded. Gaming is way down on my priority list. Spending time with kids, wife, things to do around the house, other interests... Just never enough time. This gen will probably be the one i stop at, barely played my 360. I'll still play my retro stuff from time to time but don't really get into it as much. As far as my friends around my age, the ones that do game its all current gen, and just occasionally. And mostly just fps or sports titles.
