Best of luck to your Pops. Good on you for being positive on the marriage.

Frown: The lack of indictment in the case of the death of Eric Garner. Whereas the lack of indictment in the Michael Brown case was disappointing, I really didn't have a lot of hope. There were a lot of ambiguities and the whole case seemed to hinge on circumstantial evidence.

On video a man is held in an illegal choke hold by a cop that he had not physically threatened. Then, pleading for air, he's choked to death. On video. And not even a simple man-slaughter conviction?

I'm a middle class straight white dude and even I'm losing faith in our justice system and law enforcement.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Yeah, shit's fucked up. Mike and I were jawing about it a bit last night in the "world falling apart" thread if you haven't seen it...

Yeah, you aren't the only one.

I'm in an interracial relationship: I'm white, my girlfriend is black. She was upset about the news but revealed she hadn't watched the video footage and wasn't sure she should. I watched it, and I told her not to. That was sick and unnecessary, not just the choke hold, but seeing what counts as "aggression" and seeing the number of officers present at the scene who participated. It made me feel ill.

And now I question: could this happen to my girlfriend over something minor, or my brother's(he's also in an interracial relationship)? This guy was selling cigarettes. Could my girlfriend get strangled to death over a parking ticket and the officer go free?

Fuck's sake.

This is how I currently benchmark my faith in the justice system: I think the answer is 'yes'.

Smile: A movie exists where a would be teenage round eyed thief wears a San Fran Giants hat and a NY Giants jersey, and is met with intimidate respect, after a kick to the nuts, but yet wins the kumate. And the Kumate will kill you, unless "you don't fuck up".

The one thing my wife introduced me to that changed my life forever.

UBISoft, I get it, the 90s were a pretty sweet time for gaming ... but waiting 10+ minutes for a PC game to load wasn't a good thing.
Ugh that sucks, I've had a lot of issues with UPlay with Splinter Cell: Conviction (or was it the Blacklist one?) and I haven't had much luck actually playing it.
