Last night I watched:
It's no Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, but it's pretty good.
And tonight I watched:
Not bad, but there's worse out there.
Cliched but I've seen worse.
Of the four listed here, I enjoyed this one the most.
A trashy yet tempting piece of 1980s Ozploitation finds two lovers, living in a dystopian Australia in the near future (in relation to the film's 1986 release date), who find themselves at an all-night drive in that later reveals itself to be a slum-like prison that no one can get out of (due to the fact that everyone's cars are purposely sabotaged by the police). But when the drive-in offers easy (in varying degrees) to drugs, alcohol, exploitation films and new wave music, as opposed to the awful conditions outside the walls, no one feels compelled to leave.
The prison-like drive-in feels like a post-apocalypse mashup of Desperate Living's Mortville and the Burning Man festival.
Sadly, the main reason I watched this (as well as House and Slugs) is that like a small chunk of my NetFlix queue, this film's being taken off of NetFlix on November 30th (at the time of writing this it is now two minutes after midnight).
And I've got several movies on my queue that are heading out the door in the next 24 hours.
