What was the last movie you've seen?

Last night on the ride home from Thanksgiving dinner with my aunt in Nags Head:

Liked it.

I've been wanting to get into Asterix and Obelix for a while now (since getting into the Master System game Asterix) and recently found all (or at least all but a couple of) the animated and live-action features (the animated features are dubbed in English while the live-action features are in French with so-so fan-made subtitles).

But can't wait to watch the next films, since at the moment that and some of the games are all I have (AFAIK many, if not all, of the films are not available on DVD in America).

Just watched A Single Shot, which was a really good movie overall. I had no expectations going in, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it came out. It had little details that I liked, and was one of those that lived up to its name, and showed a side of life that I like to hear about.

Hadn't seen this in years. I remembered it as being like a LA version of Goodfellas but it's really more a slice of life thing like La Haine. It's a great film full of quotable lines and some strong performances from Larry Fishburne and Ice Cube in particular. It is still weird how Cuba Gooding looks about the same age as his dad though.

Edit: I want to see that Exodus: Gods and Kings film, but I'm really put out that the headline cast will be all white and worse, Joel Edgerton is essentially "tanned up".

Christian Bale as Moses was a really bad casting in my mind, I haven't looked into much else on the film though.

SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK

...again.

I can see how some people wouldn't care for this movie as it takes quite a while for the character development to get going, but I love this film. Not because I'm a Jennifer Lawrence fanboy (which I am), but because the writing is so damned clever.

Last night I watched:

Image

It's no Priscilla: Queen of the Desert, but it's pretty good.

And tonight I watched:

Image

Not bad, but there's worse out there.

Image

Cliched but I've seen worse.

Image

Of the four listed here, I enjoyed this one the most.

A trashy yet tempting piece of 1980s Ozploitation finds two lovers, living in a dystopian Australia in the near future (in relation to the film's 1986 release date), who find themselves at an all-night drive in that later reveals itself to be a slum-like prison that no one can get out of (due to the fact that everyone's cars are purposely sabotaged by the police). But when the drive-in offers easy (in varying degrees) to drugs, alcohol, exploitation films and new wave music, as opposed to the awful conditions outside the walls, no one feels compelled to leave.

The prison-like drive-in feels like a post-apocalypse mashup of Desperate Living's Mortville and the Burning Man festival.

Sadly, the main reason I watched this (as well as House and Slugs) is that like a small chunk of my NetFlix queue, this film's being taken off of NetFlix on November 30th (at the time of writing this it is now two minutes after midnight).

And I've got several movies on my queue that are heading out the door in the next 24 hours.

Rampage Capital Punishment

Funny how it takes a psychopath to remind us how dead inside most of us are. The film on a technical level doesn't make a lot of sense, but it's controversial and entertaining. Uwe Boll has earned himself another fan.

Hammer Films does lesbian vampire horror.

Don't have enough expertise on the subject of Hammer Films or lesbian vampire horror. Or Eurohorror. But I can say I liked this, though felt it was less of a horror film and more of a drama with horror and suspense elements. And plenty of lesbianism, topless and otherwise.
