I like the idea of having a single versatile media box. I've been kicking around the idea of setting up a nice HTPC for years.

Hey, if it makes you feel any better, I don't think the PS4 is any better.

They're both just easy-mode PCs with 5 year old specs.

Hell, I really don't want to get a WiiU either, but I kinda have to just to play about half a dozen games.

I like my PS4 but I don't think it's very good. Nor the Xbox One. Since I don't have a super powerful PC anymore I don't really mind but there is very little unique stuff to play on the system that appeals to me. I feel like I'd actually enjoy owning an Xbox One more right now than the PS4, although Persona 5 and a Gran Turismo game will, in time, change that I'm sure.

So far the only console this gen I really think is worth owning is the Wii U and I've sold the ones I've had twice! Once because I was a moron and the last time because I was trying to pay rent to keep from moving back in with my parents. . . (See how that worked out? Now I'm still living at my parents and have no Wii U. Least I've still got some games for it. )

Which video was that?

And I liked my gamecube but I still understood where everyone was coming from when they brushed it off. But even that had a unique flavor to it which I don't see on the xbone....than again when you name something "one" you can't get much blander than this can you?
darsparx wrote: At least the NES was a game console and nothing more....I still don't understand the need for a game console to do 20 other things than playing games(that's why we have chromecast, apple tv, roku, tablets and computers). Maybe i'm just weird but game console should be just that a game console nothing more nothing less :|
Because why have 4 boxes set up next to your TV instead of 1? My only issue is when the media features take priority in the design of the console to the gaming features. That is what MS got so wrong with the xbone and that's what is biting it in the ass. People bought PS4s without there being any games for it yet cause of the promise of what's to come. And that promise wasn't 4K 3D blu-ray, it was games games games. It doesn't matter if most of them come out on the xbone too, since MS just got their message botched up.

Games I have enjoyed this year on the Xbox One:

Forza Horizon 2 - maybe the most fun/best racing game I have ever played
Killer Instinct - the new game is Rare's best work in a decade or more
Crimson Dragon - doesn't touch the PD series that it is inspired by, but fun nonetheless
Titanfall - I sunk so much time into this game's alpha/beta AND still felt compelled to dump another ~40 into it in the month after release. I played with a lot of irl friends, too, which was cool

I still hope to play before the year is out:

D4
Ryse
Sunset Overdrive
Disney's Fantasia
Halo: Master Chief Collection

That's not a flood of games, of course, but that's a solid list of exclusives (w/ one console exclusive) that at this point bests Sony's exclusive lineup. The system is catching up quickly in sales to the PS4, as well, so I think it will continue to get interesting exclusives (we still don't have the new Gears, new Halo, new Fable, Quantum Break, etc.). There's a lot of good reasons to get an Xbox One in addition to or instead of a new PC/PS4.

Any one can tell me how long it used to take (on average) to develop a game in the years between 85 -> 97 (pre 3D) ? Its funny how about every movie or cartoon has its own game in the 8bit/16bit era.

I think Doom took like 1.5 years but it was like revolutionary and they built everything from scratch. Lets not forget it was a startup/indie game.

Not sure why all the hate on XB1. I am not buying one for myself but, it basically offers everything a ps3/360 does and more. I know games aren't here, but they are not here YET . The price isn't bad either, I think ps3 was higher priced at launch in 2007 dollars.

I honestly don't hate it. I sure as hell don't feel fondness for it either. I feel... exactly as I feel about all the other current gen consoles right now. Nothing.

If I could have gotten an XB1 back when Sears was accidentally selling them for $60, I'd have jumped on that. I'm just not going to pay a lot of money for something that I know will be collecting dust within a few short weeks of getting it.
